Kiri was already a famous opera singer at this point. But this performance made her famous around the world and put her on par with Pavarotti and Domingo.

This live version compared to the one at Prince Harry's wedding....the difference is clear, and yet this was 1981. Dame Kiri controls herself but Elin at Prince Harry's wedding was probably very very nervous but then again Dame Kiri at this time had already sung on most of the worlds Opera stages hence the amount of control.

Noe' Kris I heard Prince Charles were responsible for some of the music act like the kingdom choir & possibly the bridal walk song for Meghan.😅 a bit squeaky but Prince Charles were a patron for music and she is a welsh singer, so maybe 1 of the reason he chose her.😅

What a magnificent voice Kiri had in the right repertoire. This aria, however, taxes her in the extreme and while she manages to conquer most of it, the limitations are obvious in numerous instances of grabbed breaths and un-Handelian phrasing.
