I think the slick star is genuinely very underrated. It's in the upper half of machines, and it's actually one of the more responsive machines to handle, once you get the hang of it. But, it's very much "The Swerve Star but worse" even when it's working well, and it has some genuinely awful events and circumstances. And yeah. Bulk Star is terrible at everything except the flight glitch. It's close to being "fine", but what kills it is how abysmally it turns. I'd also nominate the rocket star for the stinky list. It's... just not good at anything. It can't sustain the speed for long enough, the machine needs to commit to those charges. My other candidate for kinda bad is the Wheelie Bike. It doesn't have the raw speed and brick stats of the Rex Wheelie, or the... strange mechanics of the wheelie scooter, and so is just a vanilla-ish machine except it skids and has meh handling. It's way better than those other losers, but its only merit is being kinda bad instead of critically flawed.

I agree Rocket Star is kinda meh. We did play around with it on stream, but unfortuantley with all the tech issues I lost that part of the recording. I wanted this video to be longer, but it is what it is.

With the bulk Star glitch you can go completely out of bounds on city trial. Like not just slightly beyond the barriers from flying off the sky garden, I mean you’ll die while the HUD freaks out

Duuuude when you started flying on the first ride and lost your mind had me laughing way too hard

though some machines are better than others, after returning to my copy of kirby air ride i really think every machine is good and usable, none of them are outright bad. in the regular air ride mode though no stat boosts are gonna help you, you REALLY need to master the machines playstyle to use it there, like trying to use formula star on magma flows or machine passage is HELL

god the Formula Stars noise at max speed is peak

Seeing the bulk star just fucking SOAR to the heavens was incredible- I'd never seen that glitch before and I grew up with the game! Thanks for showing off some of the lesser used machines and giving me my daily dose of nostalgia. :^)

I always liked that first time with the big engine because of how easy it was to break open the boxes and get lots of upgrades. Also the straight driving pyramid and the pink truck i believe. Its been so long.

I was a Wagon Star main, with Wheelie Scooter as my secondary.

I've completed the entire grid in city trial a few times, but I have never seen the Bulk Star go that high.

The rocket star is probably the fastest vehicle when you have the infinite charge boost. 😮

I've never heard anyone talk about this, but when I was a kid, I remember discovering a glitch where the Bulk Star can quickly kill somebody on the Hydra Star. You don't spin, but you drive right up against the Hydra Star and keep spamming A. It quickly drops the Hydra's HP and it's pretty much inescapable. Kryptonite against the best battling vehicle! Hopefully I'm not hallucinating this.

i always wanted to see the top of high jump. anytime i ever tried that as a kid, i always ended up stopping early due to hitting a as i passed one of the stop floors. surprised you managed to skip past em all.

Ahhh my favourite Gamecube game which I still play so often to this day. I might download the game for Dolphin assuming it's possible ofc and Nintendo haven't taken it down everywhere.

In terms of which stars I used to main in this, I... only really picked the Warp Star. Because most of the other stars didn't click with me, they were too gimmicky for me to give them a function...? So, I just picked the one that's normal and stuck with it. Tho, I gotta say, the CPU at Lv 9 has served as great feedbac for me in how these stars trully control in Air Ride mode. Bulk Star being my favorite after seeing a replay of the CPU just tearing through the tracks while I was struggling to catch up to it.

Bulk star isn’t actually awful, just need to make sure you have a few boost and charge powerups and it becomes very solid

Slick star is my favourite but it certainly doesn't do slopes well

BIlly Hatcher is a game I've been wanting to do for a while tbh. Im a big Sonic Adventure 2 fan and everyone who loves that game loves Billy Hatcher, and it was made by the same people. Honestly im still expirimenting with my channel. I have so many ideas and games I want to make content for, but I know I gotta pick a direction to focus on for the sake of growth on KZread. I think Gamecube era games might be it, but idk lol.

I have played netplay, I dont like it tbh. The lag was unbearable. Idk if thats my internet or what. Id rather someone organize a kirby air ride meetup lol

@EpicDuskk The lag really comes down to who you are playing with. 4p across the US might make things a bit difficult. If you are playing with another person and even if they are across the US, then you should be fine. But always increase the minimum buffer for all players (to the same buffer) until your connection is smooth, unless it reaches around 30 buffer. It might also be that you are not using the Slippi build of Dolphin, which makes connecting to people much better. If you're interested, lmk, I can send you links and even a modified version of KAR that most people play today to increase chaos as well as quality of life changes.

Ngl... I never played Air Ride... I feel like I'm missing out

When going off a ledge, just mash the A button! Getting Glide Down power ups makes it easier because it puts the fly stat into the negative lol

@@EpicDuskk fair enough. E1&2 has fanservers you can connect to with either the Broadband or the cheaper Dial-up modem if you do decide to play and want the online experience. Dunno if any ever got E3 working thoguh. Episode 3, if you're wondering, is a standalone game that's a digital card game. Hm...oh, what about Zoids Battle Legends? The debug menu was used to change the starting vehicle to the one being tested. That's how he started with a Formula Star, for example
