Hawaii Kai to Portlock point, to Kaimana Beach. It was a pretty fast and fun run. Besides some cramping that slowed me down for a few minutes, I had a blast. Finished 2nd out of 6 in my age group.

as a new paddler, what is the hand drag for?

I do it during the drop to slow me down enough to not sink the nose, but not come out of the bump. 💯 Not necessary, but I like the control of it. Also helps not spinning out since the rudder is sometimes in the air during the drop.
