The message is the exact same between both songs. He knew his message should reach as far as it possibly can. There are a lot of people who do consider this to be the best anti-war song ever made so I'm personally glad he did this even if I still think the Russian version is superior.

It such a warm place but there on the street Where our footprints are waited for Stardusted boots Sparkle and shine Here are the shepheard and upholstered chair Dazzling dreams below the bright sun o The trigger untouched When it was the right time Chorus: My blood type mark is on a sleeve There is my ordinal number mark on a sleeve Wish me now some luck in the fight Say now, saying I won't stay in this field of green I won't stay in this field of green Wish me now to be lucky Say now, saying Be lucky I make wealth to pay but I never want A triumph at any price I never want someone's chest lying under my foot I would rather stay here with you Just to stay here with you But a star which is high in the skies Still gives me the route.

the lyrics for the russian verion is different Warmest place But the streets are waiting for the footprints of our feet. Stardust - on our boots. Soft chair, checkered fleece, Trigger not squeezed in time. Shimmering day - in a brightest dream. Blood type - on the sleeve, My serial number - on the sleeve, Wish me luck in the battle, wish me: Not to be left lying on this grass, Not to be left lying on this grass, Wish me luck, wish me luck! I have enough to cover the bill, but I refuse a victory at any cost. I have no wish to stomp on anyone. I would have liked to stay with you, Simply to be left with you, But the star, high in the celestial sky, is calling my name. Blood type - on the sleeve, My serial number - on the sleeve, Wish me luck in the battle, wish me: Not to be left lying on this grass, Not to be left lying on this grass, Wish me luck, wish me luck! kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqiszM9wk8zdncY.html

@@nova723x4 dushnila identified. The main purpose of translation is not to give english-speaking people direct translation. Because the translation will sound different from the original meaning, even if word to word it'll be accurate. Translation of this song is one of the rear examples of really good ones. It translates correct mood, clear meaning of original song and also get with the rhythm nice and clean. And in the sense of meaning, your translation does not go so far from the song's original translation. As a dushnila myself, I just wanted to share.

Но тут имеет место еще и исторический контекст , чтоб правильно понять смысл. Например фильм Брат иностранцу понять сложно - почему он в России культовый, потому, что он не знают что происходило у нас в 90е . Так и например при переводе песни Троллейбус понять о чём она будет тяжело (если вы понимаете напишите свою версию) - тут нужно учитывать когда она написана .

It is a translation As Is, each line in english literary corresponds the line in russian. Also the lyrics rythm is also keept as an original. However, there are some intonations that english lyrics unable to introduce, comparing original words. But, it is the issue in adoption, of they will adopt as is, they then need to compromise in something, like the lyrics rythm, the length of particular lines etc. Anyhow, this translation is what is should :)
