Russian rock is extremely underrated in non-Russian speaking countries. There are some gems everywhere and this one is a good example.

Luis M In Russia (USSR back then) Tsoi produced the best music by far. He had millions of fans, and almost every Russian in their late 40s to late 50s will recognize this music, and most of the time their children will also know of him. Russian rock or not, this man was a genius and if not for his untimely death, would have surely been heard all over the world.

I'm a french guy and music lover married to a beautiful russian girl. She introduced me to Kino and I often listen this band since this time. I got a 5 in Russian when I was a kid LOL (5 is like F) We had to take it in Ceskoslovensko as requisite. I wish I would of studied harder.

He didn't need "god" to be talented... great genes and a will of his own helped allot !!!

Viktor Tsoi was a great man. He inspired the young with his band's music across the Soviet Union, and was loved by many. I may have Slavic ancestry but you really don't have to be Slavic at all to enjoy Kino's music, let alone music from the East. Viktor had made mistakes in life like everybody else, and he was never afraid to admit that. He was an honest man who wrote from the heart, despite all that he's been through. Even after his death behind the wheel in 1990, the soul resides in his music, which still lives on to this day. May Viktor Tsoi rest in peace, and may his son Alexander live a happy life. Much love and luck to all - from a man living in America

I was searching for Russian rock bands, then I found this band. This band is truly awesome. They have so many good songs. Gruppa Krovi is a masterpiece. Victor Tsoi is a genius. In my opinion, this band should be put at the same place where we put Joy Division, Talking Heads and other famous post-punk bands. Love from Bangladesh!

Well, Joy Division and Talking Heads are respectable here, but they're nowhere near Kino, judging by the influence the latter have had on the population of this country which is still the biggest in the world despite the fact that everyone speaks English everywhere, so it's really important to do your maths and even more so to listen to your heart no matter how cheesy that may sound.

Помню, как мы договорились с ребятами встретитья на черном море на пляже в Лермонтово ....раньше там яблоку негде было упасть, очень много людей.....они сказали, что найдете нас по музыке группы Кино, мол у нас она будет звучать громче всех.....так мы и встретились с ними......это был 1988 год!!!!

russian music in general is just honestly the best

Everytime I listen to Spokoynaya Noch I feel like crying. I don't know why but there's just something in Viktor Tsoi's voice, the guitar and the playing just before the singing starts that makes me melancholic. I'm that kind of a person who never cries so in a way it's nice to feel something even if it's only during those 6 minutes.

I'm in my mid 20s and live alone. I speak to my Dad only and last Christmas during COVID I wasn't able to see him and spent my first Christmas alone. I decided to take a walk a couple miles down to the shore and happened to listen to this. It was actually really nice, just trekking along the shoreline in the mist and the cold just listening to this. Massively underrated album by a similarly underrated artist. RIP, Viktor 🖤

Потому что они "поют" о том, чего хотят большинство. Такие же мнимые ценности, которые навязала им поп культура

Сейчас 2019 год, мне 44. Пропела все песни. Знаю все слова и все ноты до сих пор. Виктор Цой и "Кино" сформировали мою личность и это помогает мне выживать до сих пор. Спасибо.

Почему я здесь сейчас? Это удивительно, странно. Проснулась, кипели слёзы - мне приснилось, что по дороге впереди меня идёт Цой, в чёрном плаще. Я знаю, что он погиб, но не могу сдержать порыв - обогнала, прошу пожать руку. Пожал, смотрит на меня. А я ему в шоке: "Витя, спасибо за юность, за песни!" И он, улыбаясь, спросил, какая больше нравится. Всегда думала, что "Пачка сигарет", но смотрю ему в глаза и начинаю тихонько напевать: "Среди связок в горле теснится ком..." Проснулась и не отпускает. Маме позвонила, всё ли хорошо, нашла этот альбом, слушаю сижу. Вот увидела, что сегодня 13 августа, погуглила, когда ушёл (дату не помню, оказывается, через 2 дня, 15 августа...) Короче, вроде бред. Но впервые, и это будто какой-то знак. Хоть бы хороший...Да, люблю Цоя, но просто, как все мы, кто помнит. И получается, любимая песня у меня - Легенда. Заказала сегодня книгу его стихов.

Spokoinaya noch is the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

I listen Russian rock over 7 year, i meet a lot a bands certain is my favorite country for music by far. Taked so long to i meet Kino and when i discovery i come crazy, first of all i never was a guy that love old rock, i listened a bit. But Kino is so diferent, is so original. In the 2 first days when i found the band i listened Группа Крови (Song) for aproximmally 50 times (no joke). I love the song and when start the intro i come crazy haha. It's strange because in 2013 i meet the channel of Enjoykin and her has a meme song with the instrumental of Группа Крови, i remember that i like so much this video but i never imagined that the instrumental is from a real song. By the way, great song, awesome album e a super special band. In less time i see why this band is the one most important in history of Russia. Greetings from Brazil!

Although I don't understand the language. There's something unique about this album. I took the time to listen to the entire album without any expectations. I've enjoyed listening to this wonderful album. Music is universal and music transcends all boundaries. In my humble opinion, this album continues to stand time, definitely it has the same quality of some of the great bands from the early 80s. Such musical legacy, just musical greatness!! \m/

I wish England wasn't so big headed because we miss out on tons of brilliant bands, people, books, movies and loads more just because they're Russian or German or French and so on. It really is a shame and England needs to realise that it's not the only country, it is in fact a tiny island, one sixth the size of France and not the centre of the universe.

Agreed mate and I would say our American cousins are the same. I mean just look at Hollywood at lot of films that are released are based on books from authors from countries such as France, Russia, Poland, Germany etc etc

Мои мама и дядя выросли в СССР, слушая Кино примерно в 1985-1992 годах, и я так рад, что они передали его мне. Мои друзья любят их здесь, в Америке.

Listening KINO's songs is the good way to learn Russian. The words are easy, but the images are vivid and the thoughts are deep.

Even as an American that doesn’t understand any Russian, these songs are so wonderfully melancholic. As late stage capitalism and bourgeois democracy is unwinding and seeming maybe this system doesn’t work either. This vibe is appropriate for the US in the 2020s like the Soviets might have felt in the 1980s…

The Piano in Zakroy za mnoy dver is such a beautiful addition. Viktor Tsoi was like the Russian Jim Morrison, John Lennon or Ian Curtis. Literally, he was a poet with no boundaries who was taken from us way too soon.

DraculaXHunter101 i've read for this piano part they've hired some guy from conservatory and asked him to play "something like Rakhmaninov". Not sure but i remember they gave him a botle of vodka which was a very strong "currency" in the USSR at that time. That all is still not diminishing the awesomeness of this band.

DraculaXHunter101 John Lenon is overrated and Imagine is a garbage of a song, music and lyric wise. Jim Harrison is ok, Ian Curtis is true poet and above the basic songwriter.

I love their music styles. Especially I love outro guitar solo. I think outro guitar solo gives listeners more emotional. Kino is greater than any Western Europe musicians.

This is Viktor Tsoi, a Korean-born Soviet rock musician! We are very proud of him! On August 15, 1990, he tragically died in a car! In Belarus, during the summer protests, his song "We Demand Change" sounded everywhere among the protesters!

I love listening to music from pretty much anywhere in the world. I find it really interesting to understand the different tastes of people in each country. I absolutely love this music seen in Russia. I'm glad I'm not the only english speaker that likes this kind of music.

I discovered this band when i was 12. Im 22 now and still listening.

I love Viktor's poetry, though I speak very little Russian and need to rely on translations by other people. The words are very simple, it's like poetry for everyone. He talks about feelings everyone can relate to. I dare say part of the beauty of his poetry is in its simplicity. It's no wonder that he has such a huge fanbase.

In simplicity was attraction. Those chords were easy to play on a guitar with friends (and girls) during my teenage. Lyrics are meaningful, especially for us, kids of perestroika. Btw if need help with translation, ask here.

А мне 47. Включил альбом и я снова в своей юности. "Кино", "ДДТ", "Алиса", "Ария", "Агата Кристи"... Как было зачетно. Светлая Память Виктору.
