Shizuka wraps up her trip in Wakayama by sampling one of the prefecture's most well-known foods- freshly caught tuna! The town of Nachikatsuura in Wakayama prefecture is famous for its active fishing industry, bring in tons of fresh tuna every day. Shizuka ventures to find the tastiest tuna in town, and tries a variety of dishes featuring this versatile fish.
Along the way, Shizuka visits the beautiful Nachi Falls, the largest tallest waterfall in Japan with an uninterrupted drop of 133 meters. She also gets a chance to see an expert at work, slicing up a massive, freshly caught tuna. Fresh sashimi, fried, or served on a pizza- this fish never fails to please!
This adventure through Wakayama has been a feast for the eyes, soul, and stomach! We hope you’ve enjoyed the Wakayama series and look forward to more adventures around Japan.

    I wanna try that Mochi Tuna Bowl so bad. It reminds me of the first time I tried tuna nigiri -- my neighbor's dad would go deep sea fishing and then lay out a bunch of tuna on the front lawn. They made sushi rice and invited me to try the tuna nigiri with a bit of soy sauce on the tuna. I was so unsure about it but I loved soy sauce with rice so I decided to give it a try. At that moment, my love for sushi was born. That bowl looks like it would be nostalgic of that very first bite.

    Of all the countries I've visited before, Japan was my most memorable holiday destination ever. Can't wait to go back to Japan again! My sister had been to Japan 2 times and she said it's still not enough. All my friends said that I need to visit Japan at least 4 times in my lifetime. Minimum once for every season 😅 There's always something new and extraordinary to experience in every places for every seasons.

  • @JapanbyFood

    @JapanbyFood

    2 жыл бұрын

    It is pronounced as it is written but in this case, the word "shoyu" is combined with another word "ichimi" that comes in front of it, which makes the sound change from "shou" to "jou". It happens quite often in Japanese. It can happen with the word "sushi" too, when there is something in front of it, "s" changes to "z". Sushi->KuraZushi :) it is a bit hard to explain but we hope it made it clearer.

    I hate to be critical but in the tuna cutlet scene, the two types of tuna are supposed to be called fatty and medium fatty but are referred to as rare and medium rare which is a clear mistake. The daikon grated radish was called horseradish which is also incorrect since the two are nothing alike.
