King Unveils Plaque Where Queen Elizabeth II Lay-in-State
'King Unveils Plaque to Queen Elizabeth II in Parliament'
The King has visited Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament to unveil a plaque which marks the place of the Lying-in-State of Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles met the leaders of the House of Lords and the House of Commons as well as the prime minister and party leaders.
The installation of the plaque continues a royal tradition which goes back to King Edward VII in 1910.
His Majesty continued to New Palace Yard where he unveiled a pair of bronze sculptured lamps - a gift from Parliamentarians to the late Queen.

Such a beautiful, solemn moment. It was also touching to see His Majesty pick up and return the cane to the lady who dropped it. This is a man who does not miss the small details, who is courtly when necessary, and solemn when appropriate. It is important to remember, however, he is a man...with all of the flaws, frailties and struggles humanity imposes. As Elizabeth I once said: "To be a king and wear a crown is a thing more glorious to them that see it than it is pleasant to them that bear it." God Save the King!

What a glorious moment of civility in honour of Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II. I am an Australian living in Sydney, and where once I could never have imagined a world without Queen Elizabeth, I must do so now. Yet, where Love is the cornerstone of my imagination, does she Rest In Peace a worthy presence never to been forgotten by me. Although diminutive in form but with a Faith far reaching to sustain us even beyond the more immediate of realms, she preceded herself a graceful counterpart to everything everyone should aspire to be; never once failing in her duties as Monarch, the grace of God alone her own reward. Where the world does not feel the same without her, was it a better place for her being a part of it. I am so grateful - so very, very grateful! - to have lived during her reign. Rest In Peace Your Majesty 🙏🕯🙏

I miss her late Majesty very much but I am glad for the presence of HM King Charles. I'm truly sorry he only gets to be King now that his mother is gone, and I truly wish that it was possible for him to still consult her on issues, since she was the longest serving monarch ever and had lots of knowledge and wisdom. @@silverfox9843 Every sovereign is ultimately the monarch head of state alone, which is by design, as the seat of all authority. He messes up, it's on him; the spotlight shines brightest on him, and you could recall that the only King who was executed for treason, was the only one who died. There was no reign of terror in England where the Queen Consort died also or anyone else. His Majesty stands alone, but as you say, he has lots of help and good will. Only one person would truly understand his position right now and that is Her Late Majesty, God rest her in eternal light and joy.
Lovely, but bittersweet moment. And a lovely gesture from a King who has been trained to service all his life by his mother and father, to pick up the cane the elderly lady dropped. Queen Elizabeth is sorely missed, but Charles III has assumed her mantle seamlessly. Long live the King.
The moment KC3 picks up the cane…he did not have to do that. But he did. Says something doesn’t it.
