Hah, Not only a genius composer, but a brilliant pianist AND can sing too? Dammit, what can't you do? I am in absolute awe now.
Love listening to composers sing their own music...especially when they play with the melody and rhythm. Love the back-phrasing in the first verse. Damnit, this man is talented.
I've fallen in love with this song immediately
Love it when JRB sings
this is so inspiring!! I've never heard him sing before and this is probably my favorite JRB song
Jason Robert Brown never ceases to amaze me. Playing the piano so well (especially that intro) and being able to sing....just wow
Probably my favourite thing on the internet.
Exactly, it means us mortals can sing it too!
Who's still watching this in 2016??

He has a great voice!! Who knew he was such a good performer as well as a writer and musician!!
I don't understand how you can be so perfect and talented?! I'm thankful for your existence & everything you've ever created! This was wonderful, as always :)
I know professional, brilliant, extremely talented accompanists who can't play this music. Let alone sing it at the same time. What...how...do you...wonderful.
Sheet Music: ok, JRB, how many notes do you want in the opening? JRB: Yes.
Jason, you are one of the most talented composers and performers who has ever lived through my eyes. It is my dream to work with you one day. I love hearing you play and sing your own pieces!!!
He is WONDERFUL
You are intimidatingly brilliant. I feel the need to pack away my piano and never touch it EVER again.
WOAH, people are upset that the key was changed by the COMPOSER of the piece? The day I'm not allowed the change the keys of my pieces, I'm quitting music. hahaha. (this post is meant to be light-hearted; not serious)
I can't believe I got to sing for you. I've peaked. This song..... I can't....... SO amazing.
Fabulous as always! Love it.
I'm so in love with this song. Thank you for writing this masterpiece.
my god, you are brilliant.
Dat intro tho
I wish i could be so influential, such an amazing musician when i get older, im 18,and am on my to college.Jason, you'll be my inspiration to keep going!
What a treat - thank you!
Fantastic. Truly amazing. I can't wait to see Songs for a New World in Toronto this spring!
Wow, Jason. I'm again in awe. Thank you for posting this. Sara

Wow. Love it.
you are incredible!!! and your bassist is INSANE!!! get it jrb!
such a flow! so great! When you sing it, Jason R Brown, it sounds like song from Last five years!
This is a fantastic Chanukah gift...
I think he's so adorable! :)
This is incredible. No matter what key it's in.
Fabulous as always! Love it. -angela
Why must you be so ridiculous amazing good sir? Just amazing keep it up!
It's weird how the stakes in this song are so high and in this performance it's just like, "Yeah...king of the world"
This my favorite version of the song. I love it so much more in G major. I'm a lyrical baritone, so this is so much better. My University in miami (FIU) is doing this in the fall semester. I got a callback and this is the song we're doing for all the males. Any advice?
Awesome
@JasonRobertBrown wow was it really originally in G? ive lived my whole life feeling bad because i thought i couldn't sing the song, now I might do this for my high school certificate musical assignment
Ah, the foot-tapping. Really takes me back... :P
definitely.
I wish I had an eighth of the talent you have. Just saying.
On Music Notes, you can buy the sheet music and transpose it down or up to G Major, I recommend transposing it up, so that the piano doesn't sound mushy, and just sing it an octave lower than written
JRB is the best

@JasonRobertBrown oh wow a key I can actually sing! I love it!
WIN
@coynecompositions He wrote it! let him do what he wants!
I absolutely love this piece! Do you think it could be performed by a female vocalist?
@JasonRobertBrown wow that interesting. is there sheet music to this in the orginal key?
Jason, do you perform often? What does it take to get you to perform somewhere?
Does anyone know what key this is in?
I think I like it better in C major

totally depends on the voice, but I agree, sits nicer :)
well see, he's a baritone.
i didnt know john locke played guitar
Brilliant! Absolutely love it Jason. Big fan! Would love if you could comment or give feedback on my videos. Ive written a few shows and hoping to audition for MT college next year. Matthew
Yeah, G major is already high enough. Not everybody is Billy Porter :)
I’m sad that anything Jason rights is basically carpal tunnel for an accompanist to play because there’s soo many songs like this I want in my book but the accompaniment is just too complex

DeVon Bridges Any accompanist worth their salt can play JRB in auditions
@JasonRobertBrown Aha!? Not C major... ??? But Why transpose up to C major ???
I'm a big fan Jason, but G major? That made me sad. Great playing and great voice.

How DARE the composer change the key of his own song?! Haha!!
I believe I have developed a massive crush on you after just watching that. *crazy stalker alert!* *crazy stalker alert!* Love ~ a girl who wishes she could compose as well as you do.
He reminds me of Paul Simon,a great musican but everyone else sings his songs better.
is he jewish?
