King of Comedy Jerry Lewis Leaves Reporter in Hysterics (1958)

Комедия

On 17 April 1958, King of Comedy Jerry Lewis was interviewed by ITN's trailblazing reporter Lynne Reid Banks. Very quickly, Banks found herself having to stifle laughter in response to Lewis' bizarre answers and, by the end of the interview, Lewis was asking the questions while Banks was laughing hysterically.
Lynne Reid Banks has sadly died aged 94. Most widely known as a best-selling author of children's fiction, Banks is remembered in the world of journalism as one of Britain's first female TV news reporters and a founding member of the ITN team. As well as pioneering the vox pop (street interview), Banks reported on a range of subjects and interviewed a diverse list of historic figures. Whether speaking to the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Audrey Hepburn, and Louis Armstrong; Cabinet ministers and NATO Secretary Generals; or Joe Bloggs in the street, she communicated with clarity, conviction and a human touch. Lynne Reid Banks at once mastered and advanced the art of TV journalism and her legacy is clearly visible today.
