I love how people in movies throw away weapons with complete disgust when they run out of ammo. Like the gun betrayed them by not having unlimited ammo capacity.

One thing I really like about this scene is that the insects don't growl or roar. Other movies would give them some sort of freaky sound effects, but insects don't have vocal cords and are silent except for sounds they make by rubbing body parts together. If anything, the silence actually makes it all the creepier. This means that the realism actually enhances the scene.

It probably is and I love the character. I remember when people didnt like this film only because of how Jack Black was in it and was “not funny”. Jack black just wanted to try a whole different new role other than comedy. And he nailed it with Carl Denham being a greedy movie filmmaker.

You gotta be dumb to think he was a miscast in this movie. Carl was easily the second most entertaining thing about the movie front to back next to the amazing scenes with Anne and Kong, and to say he wasn’t “funny” is really just ignoring the fact that he was comedic in the same way RDJ’s natural born killers role was hilarious. It’s so bafflingly ridiculous however realistic that his character was THIS lacking in ANY empathy and he was so completely fucking insane he SINGLEHANDEDLY KNOCKED OUT A TITAN SIZED FUCKING GORILLA 😭 And then bro says “man people are gonna love to see this!” Like bro that’s funny as hell idk what more you could want lmfao

Fun fact: The bug pit scene was deleted from the 1933 original film because during test screenings, the audience ran out in fear because it was so frightening. The original footage still can't be found to this day. So Peter Jackson, being a huge fan of King Kong himself, added this scene to his film in honor of the deleted scene from the original.

You have to watch Horror films from the early 70's through the early 80's. There were some truly terrifying things being done at that time, especially in Europe. I can't think of a single film in the past 20 years that wasn't contrived and repetetive rehashings of things that have been done over and over. All they have is graphic torture porn now because they are trying desperately to scare audiences that have "Seen it all". It's the same with modern comedy. Unless they talk about sexual situations, eliciting laugher is getting difficult too.

The best thing about this scene is how the crew actully fought back. I think people tend to forget that you dont have to have a weapom to fight back. Sure our brainhole is our ultimate weapon and we dont have the strongest bite or punch but we can do so all the same. Improvision is also shown here wich i really like. The art of killing comes in many forms and grabbing watever and swinging can also be effective. Here its a losing battle but they fight all the same. I feel like people become wet noodles too much in movies. Literally punching those giant worms is a chad move. If you cant flight then fight. Never beg for mercy. It is better to die fighting than to die begging for mercy. Better to fight than to give up cuz then ur life was never worth it in the first place. Survival should be a strong urge that all creatures inhabite and try to do no matter the cost. Survival is rarely portrayed right in movies and i hate that.
