Jordan, is a great country, King Hussein was one of the last great statesman that we have had, kind, understanding, and who loved his people, and the area he ruled over. He was a kind loving man, one of which we miss, but should take his teachings to heart. His son now hold's a difficult seat, may we all wish him his farther's far sited vision and wish him help for above in these troubled times, King Abdullah I wish you God speed, hope and good fortune

I think he signed the peace treaty with Israel because he felt he had no choice, not because he wanted to. You can see the reluctance and discomfort on his face. He saw what happened with the wars in the region in the previous years and he just simply did not want to go through and put his small nation through the ordeal of going against Israel (for obvious reasons). I think he was a wise man in this way. Too, too many leaders in suits ( who will never edure a day of war or lack of food and comfort) make wars on the backs of young men who fight for their ideas and hopes of conquest. At least this man was wise enough to protect his people and youth from going through such misery.

No. Israel help them kick out FATAH movement out of Jordan while Syria was about to help Arafat and crossed their tanks into Jordan then Israel fly their planes towards Syria to give signals not to intervene in the chaos in Jordan between Jordanian royal forces versus Yasser Arafat!

Yes, Of course he wanted to kick the movement out of Jordan! I'm Jordanian and you have no idea what their soldiers have done in the 70s! A civil war has started between people that have lived as brothers for years because of them and the most awful 2 years of killing and not feeling safe in your own country passed on us. It was terrifying to say the least. His Majesty has done what he could to protect his country which I doubt anyone would have stood for if the king would have really done anything against Israel as everybody claim

ellamae and who's fault is that? Arabs have lived for hundreds of years in peace with each other. Who came from their lands in Europe to claim a land over religion from its rightful people for centuries with their crusades? And now history is just repeating itself. Everyone just want a piece of the cake they call the Middle East. It started in Palestine when the British thought they owned it and sold it to the Zionists (I admit we made some mistakes too in that; not agreeing on the UN solution to divide the country rightfully between the two was, in my opinion, one of them). And then Iraq with the U.S. proclaimed democracy. And now they're finishing off in Syria, Yemen and pretty much everywhere else. It's all a game.. Arabs are idiots, I'll give you that, for not seeing they're just being played like pawns in a chess game to destroy each other and not unit (btw, that goes only for most of our stupid rulers and politicians, most Arab people don't see or admit to the lines they drew between us and called them boarders, making cities like Demascus, Amman and Jerusalem, which used to be connected with one bus line, three different countries you need a passport to enter each). Yet not everything happening in the Arab region is our fault..

I disagree. King Hussein was a pragmatist and not interested in the extremist rhetoric & ideologies. He was intelligent, practical and did what was in the best interest for his country. I think, like his grandfather, desired peace as it benefits Jordan's security and stability. In addition, because King Hussein lacks the Islamist radical ideology & backed by western powers, its also in his best interests to make peace with Israel - the US gives aid to Jordan & its military - therefore works well for him and what in his view gives him peace with Allah.

there are countries bigger , area wise, population wise, richer financially, and powerful millitary wise, BUT it was this small country that came up trumps in the middle east, in representing the arabs , their cause, their problems, history and hopes for future. Do You Know Why? Because he was a descendant of the holy Prophet Sayyidna Mohammad pbuh, a true muslim, who understood islam in its true senses. All the other Arab countries where hypocrites, they just shouted in order to make themselves look good in the muslim and arab world. But this man understood the ground realities, and approached the israel situation with practical sensibility. Honour and dignity is in Allah swt hands and he bestows it upon whom he likes, in this case this man. This family has a right to rule all of the hijaz strip, jordan, syria, lebanon, iraq and parts of yemen. may Allah swt grant them success in this world and the next. Fatiha. Ameen

People judgment is always based on what they see on TV , Which is mainly a public relation campaign to promote the leader to keep him in grand standing in the eyes of his own people . For example king Hussein in 1967 war , He was the one who close all the logistic supply centers for the army on the first day of the war , He was the one who issued an order to pull to the second defense lines , and considering he did not send ammunitions to the soldiers , He came on the radio telling the soldiers to fight the enemy with your hands , Your teeth your fingernails kill them. He tried the same game plan in Alkarameh Battle , But it did not work and the Israelis lost miserably , But on national TV . It is time to promote the king with military marching bands and 21 canon shots to salute the visiting leader . Every day the first 15-20 minutes on the news is about the king and he is going to promote and strengthen our relations with these countries . I wished GOD will help me find out how he used to do that and GOD in his own way did and I thank him for that . I found the job of the head of the Royal court is to bring blonds to the king and invite them to go with him to the hotel to play poker and with the help of the Royal Guards walking inside the room , He won every game , No cheating intended and the king was very generous , He returned all the money back to the girls. I remember when my school went on a trip to see the radio station and how it work , Before we finished , We saw this tall man standing in front of us and he is looking at the ceiling and we asked , What does this man do here ? and the answer cam from the engineer who is the leading guide . this man from Wakalaht Almukhabarat . all the students asked him what are you doing here , His face became very red , Why don't you go and spy on Israel to keep the country safe . Tell us what are you doing here? , He said , I write the news . We told him you don't have journalists , All what you have a short circuit radio and you get the news from other radio stations . He answered in a very professional way , We have to write the news in a very nice way , So we don't make our friends and neighbors angry at us . Now we understand our Radio station is in the business of making friends not telling the truth and for the last 42 years they still doing the same stupid thing and they are very proud of that. That is why Aljazeera went straight to the top and our boys still trying to make friends .
