For one night I’m the hero.
Suit up, tie.
Open the door doors to the oval office. In this story I’m president.
I’ve got happiness inside my pocket.
It cost me 25 dollars.
Maybe we could go halvies?
So just gimme just a couple hours starting fires with soggy timber.
Then, I’ll have the magic powers.
Everybody here is catching smoke, looking for the ephemeral, swallowing the sun in a moonlit room, standing at the foot of a rainbow.
Everybody here is catching smoke, looking for the ephemeral, riding on a Yellow-Bellied-Brown-Snake, sipping on hedonism.
Give me 5 - it’s all I need to inscribe my epitaph while I float O.B.E. Am I dead or just paranoid?
I’ve got happiness inside my pocket.
It cost me 25 dollars.
Maybe we could go halvies?
So just gimme just a couple hours starting fires with soggy timber.
Then, I’ll have the magic powers.
Everybody here is catching smoke, looking for the ephemeral, swallowing the sun in a moonlit room, standing at the foot of a rainbow.
Everybody here is catching smoke, looking for the ephemeral, riding on a Yellow-Bellied-Brown-Snake, sipping on hedonism.
Catching smoke. Catching smoke. Catching smoke... Catching smoke. Catching smoke. Catching smoke...
Hogtied to self-indulgence. Epicureanly living la dolce vita. Just pass the aux. cord.
Not enough hours in the night to keep me on this stinking horse.
Everyone’s rolling up pineapples, writhing in the space between it all.
Long-live my decisions.
Catching smoke. Catching smoke. Catching smoke... Catching smoke. Catching smoke. Catching smoke...

I have been exploring the Gizzverse, the only thing I've been listening to for about two months. From Jazz to thrash metal. I know nothing in this comment will come as a surprise. If any band played this for me I wouldn't have issue with it, it's a good song. But it's distinctly the gizz. There are few bands out there that can change genre as seamlessly. King gizzard and the lizard wizard is the remedy to all the soulless studio music that ends up on the radio. This band creates art. Something the world's culture is in desperate need of. They have inspired me to create some beautiful things of my own, Leaning into my own failings to just have fun with it. They lean into their art find the fun, and inspire others. Art by definition is not good or bad, it simply invokes a feeling, gets your mind to think. I'm gonna go catch some smoke.

Generic bad songs about drugs are correct material for charts. A song like this, full of technical virtuosity and creativity is not a good example for the mainstream charts. If this song reaches a high level of popularity in the world what would be the meaning of the rising of the business and culture of stupidity, violence, gansta and hipersexualized audiovisuals ?. Much money in this game and acculturation to allow songs like this in the charts.

The time signature is mainly 33/8, with parts in 11/8 subdividing the 33, but then parts of it also just stay in 8/8, so the whole thing kinda goes out of sync for a while until it all lines up again. The only other band i know that plays around with such highly exotic time signatures is Dream Theater in for example A Change of Seasons. It is most unusual, most listeners will never figure out what the hell is going on with that funky time signature. Keeping perfect count of a 33/8 is also a real challenge and tough to learn for most musicians.
