A great speech from the King ,I must admit I had my doubts when Her Majesty died but I shouldn’t have worried . The king is just carrying on continuation of The Royal Family and that’s its greatest strength for all us . To all the veterans saying thank you doesn’t seem enough for there sacrifices , my dad was volunteer in the Somerset Light Infantry god bless him

To all those women and men of all corners of society, religious, geography zone, back ground that gave the beauty of life that is life itself, I thank you because a woman of colour of me has the right to enjoy the freedom me and my kids have today. God bless you all! 😢

He's wearing his Field Marshal No. 4 Tropical Service dress uniform. I thought it was a tropical one when I first saw it, and another article confirmed exactly what it is. I am wondering why he chose that one, when they wouldn't have been wearing a tropical uniform for the D-Day landings. I'm thinking it is probably light and comfortable for him to wear. It certainly does look smart.

80 years ago today the Battle of D - Day occurred in Normandy France on Juno Beach June 6th, 1944

A poignant reminder of how the BRF is a constant thread of stability through generations and not just fodder for the tabloids. Yes, forever grateful and each generation now and still to come must never forget.

Keep in mind, any WWII veterans still alive in 2024 are at least 95 years old if they had turned 18 back in 1945.

@@jillosler9353 Whilst employed by The Royal Navy on the ship that was involved in the D Day landings my father was given instructions by his superiors - sadly my father is no longer with us and neither are the officers who gave my father his instructions so to answer your in-depth question may I suggest that you figure that out for yourself, if you were on a boat instructed to help men pinned down on a beach and enemy aircraft along with enemy forces firing out you in the hope of killing as many people as they can. Hope this response helps. If you are having trouble with your thought process - then I cannot help you any further. GOODBYE

The monarch is the commander in chief and the soldiers swear to serve country and the king. A. If you’re not British, it’s not your business to mock our monarch. B. If you’re British, you have every right for your republicanism. And many other nationalities as well. It was common, right up until relatively recent times, for them to make diplomatic marriages with the royals of other countries. Over the centuries there have been marriages with the royal families of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Greece and what is now the Netherlands. Probably a few more I haven't mentioned.

He is King of the UK and his other Realms and Territories, HEAD of The Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is an association of 56 nations, not one of his 15 Realms which are members of said association along with the other 41 which are not his realms, five of which have their own monarchs.
