Pretty sure the "random" Asgardian soldier was a general or a colonel (well, equivalent in Asgardian terms atleast), who else would walk up the the King and talk so casually to him.

I wish we got to see more dark elf action solely for their tech and weaponry. They somehow managed to make it feel like fantasy despite the fact that the elves are literally using blasters.

But if everything would have been red hot lava, she would just burn to death. So it's a very bad hiding place. I mean view it like this: After the bad guys have digged (or used whatever means) to get down there. Do you want to present them with a gift? Or another challange? We are talking about an Infinity Stone here not a juwel. The crypta just looks nice, but is a very horrible idea to protect the speaking red mofo-stone. And the idea came from a space faring civilization who are very aware of what horrible things are out there. A god damn human could overcome the challenges BY ACCIDENT. "Thousands of feet underground" is **nothing**. It's only much for a human, but this universe has Thanos and sh*t. They can just crack open the planet... Why was it not sealed by magic? That sounds like an easy thing to keep at least the lesser beings (like humans) from accidentally unleashing hell... Remember, from all the things in this universe, a god damn human was the one to find it and it was 0 struggle.

@@theoneaboveall1873 Yeah that one was pretty illogical. I guess the writers thought something like "it doesn't have to be sexy love, but can also be really strong friendzone love". But yeah, he seems to put his hot spandex buddy over his family. Also she sacrificed herself, which kinda destroys the whole point of "giving something". That one bothered me very much, but it also is the only stone with a real challange. The rest just of them just happen to be where the main charcters are. I love the MCU, but it's very inconsistent. Like Ant Man for example. That dude is a running inconsistency. One time he hits someone like he weighs 80 kilos and the next time he is standing on someones shoulder without them noticing. And I'm not even going to start about the whole "Pym particles reduce the distance between Atoms, but you can get smaller than them" thing... Or how the infinity (!!!) stones, which where said to control the very fabric of the universe, are just like snapped by Thanos. Yes he is very powerfull, but that doesn't mae sense. Destroying the time stone should have destroyed time aswell.

Forget the next avengers team up make movies about Asgard and their intergalactic wars!!!

Bors helmet in this prologue was entirely cgi. They didnt have the exact design now by the time they shot it and they added it in post but by god is it much much better looking then thor and janes helmets in love and thunder. You dont need cgi for everything, like the dark elf realm which was shot in real world iceland with it only being tinted and the sky edited in post but it looks so much more real then the quantum realm did God i miss old mcu marvel where it was practical stuff enhanced by cgi..now the only thing thats real is the actors

didn't they require Heimdallur to do that (in myth they would, might be mixing things up for marvel version)? Iirc he wasn't at hist post for that attack, after chasing that big ship (Thor 2, that is; against Hel, nobody not even Thor could do any good). Imo, they did as well one could do for such events, with confused and lacking leadership (not to go into spoilers, fully). Although, talking about leadership, where's Týr?! He was in the first movie, then just wasn't there in the next ones. Maybe he was out with the army, I guess Loki kept their armies far away from Asgard, and busy, along with Týr, for his own gain.

Falchion as the other guy said, the most the soldiers were used to were tiny skirmishes that happened in small pockets of the nine realms for years if not a generation, so they got weaker. Plus be a bit fair on on them, it was Hella they were fighting, Asgard in it’s prime couldn’t beat her and sent their elite armies in a failed attempt to beat her, as she was also getting stronger from being on Asgard.

Watching this actually shows how stuff was cut which is a shame because Malekith could have been a great villain but sadly they cut his entire backstory and made him evil because he’s evil.

I think the MCU did give Odin justice. We know that during Odin’s days as a warlord, “the supremacy of Asgard was unchallenged.” This was during the era of the Celestials, beings who possessed planetary scales of power. Furthermore, Odin in his youth - long before Hela was born - defeated Surtur and ripped the behemoth’s power from him. Remember how Surtur detonated Asgard with one mighty blow? I reckon that to be on par with obliterating Australia. So for Odin to defeat such a being is tremendously impressive. Hela, despite her apparent immortality so long as she feeds on Asgard’s power, was defeated by Odin at the height of her power. Remember how strong she was at the end of _Thor: Ragnarok?_ She presumably was much stronger when she had lived her entire life on Asgard, strong enough for Odin to call her powers “limitless” - and he still beat her. But perhaps Odin’s most impressive feat is the unsaid mindwipe of all Asgardians. Hela’s statements imply that she was on Asgard when Thor was born and *after* Odin lost his eye during the Battle of Jotunheim. Further, when Hela told the Asgardian army “I thought you’d be happy to see me,” it implies that she expected them to remember her. Not just by legend, but by memory. The only explanation is that Odin mind-wiped all of Asgard. That, I’d say is his greatest feat.

They didn't hide it very well, the cameraman found it almost instantly

Just love the way the Asgardian warriors run out of the light

The ships, the language, and the art direction in general was all very cool.

I loved how badass those asgardian warriors were during that time.

Probably one of my favorite sequences in the MCU. Even though it's probably the worst movie this intro was so good. The cinematography, fight scenes and overall vibe is so good that I wish we saw more of in Thor 2.

Nope, those kurses was in light dark elves armor. That one has many costume details which become part of his body like armor

0:45 just imagine this army fighting in infitywar alongside wakanda :( would have been so epic

Ok lets be honest, the einherjar coreograph, jumping around and stacking in formation, an example being at 0:51 when the shields take the brunt of the attack while the berzerkirs come in behind them once the shield formation is broken, and at 0:53 and 1:58 the einherjar are making some pretty sweet jumps, using their full body weight to enhance their attacks. simply a beautiful sight to see, its just a shame theyre tossed around like canon fodder in thors 2 and 3 (although to be fair hela is literally a goddess), which just doesnt make sense.

A lot of people have no clue how ridiculously powerful Bor is. Way more even than Odin.

That's because the people who directed the Thor movies have never read a Thor comic and they lack vision. Honeslty, Thor should be on the same scale as Star Wars in terms of epicness. Having Thor only on earth is a huge waste of the character, when there are so many worlds for Thor to explore.

I think the biggest person to blame on Asgard falling is Odin. He literally was like “Hey guys, my daughter who I once beat and this fire giant who I also once beat are both gonna come and there’s no way for u to stop them. Now, while u guys deal with that I’m gonna head out, good luck”

I know it would not have Made this film any better, Yet I always feel that this bit should have been Narrated by Frigga, as if she was telling a bedtime story to Loki and Thor, it fades to showing Frigga closing the book and then sending Thor and Loki to bed, Frigga tucking in Loki and they share a moment like mother and son, she kisses him upon the forehead then instant cut into Adult loki being brought in chains scene. To show at least a bit more of a relationship between Loki and Frigga, for why did Anthony Hopkin need to Narrate this at all? For in the first Thor Movie he was telling this to Young Thor and Loki all the same it had a reason so why could they not do the same for it would have a good effect than just this.

Two things. First, while beings like Bor and Odin can disintegrate continents by virtue of being superior to Surtur, they would also obliterate their armies. Secondly, Bor and Odin are neither all-knowing nor all-powerful. Their armies are useful, and that requires the warriors to constantly fight in battles without the Allfather doing all the work. The best example of a non-royal Asgardian aiding an Allfather is Thor and Valkyrie’s showdown against Hela at the end of _Thor: Ragnarok._ Unlike Thor, Valkyrie was way out of her league and had no chance in hell of hurting Hela. But she could offer assistance all the same. Imagine if she had her full Valkyrie troop and they all were helping Thor. They might have defeated Hela without resorting to Surtur.

It would've been super awesome to see Bor wielding an early _Stormbreaker_ rather than wielding that pointy laser spear. The *spear* best suits Odin, just as the *hammer* suits Thor and the *axe* suits Bor. Heck, they could've made a scene of Thor getting Stormbreaker from Bor's ghost in Infinity War, but without the handle and still have it tie with the Forging scene!

@@ignaciovasquez8602 Honestly, after Love and Thunder (I didn't mind it that much,) I tend to agree. We could have gotten a really awesome, mythical trilogy that separates it from the feel of Guardians of the Galaxy, which I kind of got from Thor 3. Still I liked them, but I definitely think we needed a more serious Thor 3 and 4. Speaking of which, have you read the original plot for Ragnarok? I highly recommend reading it if not; it's dark, but follows a pretty similar plot point.

But a YT channel by the name of ComicBookCast2 did a video on it, titled: Thor Ragnarok Original Dark & Gritty Version of the Film Explained" I'm not sure exactly where the reddit post is; but it was leaked by someone who worked on the movie before Taika. It was reinforced by concept art leaked from Infinity War later that seemed to tie in perfectly with the leaked og plot. (since both were being worked on at roughly the same time.) As a matter of fact, if you look at the live phase 3 announcement, you'll see a very different style of title.

this is really one of the best intro scenes in MCU

This was a millennia ago, so Thor and Loki were still 500 years old at this point. Odin I assume was getting older, but here Bor still looks pretty spry and not gray hairs.

What i like about this fight is that both sides had proper soldiers and not some goons that fell with 1 angry stare like in most movies and we got to see how the soldiers went ham and actually LOOKED like experienced fighters.
