Kinesiology Taping (KT) for Pregnancy #5: Belly Band Plus Center Rectus Abdominus Support

This is the fifth video in the series of 10 different techniques for using kinesiology tape (or KT) for relieving pregnancy related discomfort or pain.
This technique uses a single "I" strip under the belly (see video #1) to provide lift and support to unweight the belly and decrease low back or sacroiliac discomfort.
The second strip is placed at the center of the low belly and then pulled up and over the belly button, ending just under the xiphoid process (bottom of the sternum or breast bone).
This second strip will help alleviate anterior or front abdominal discomfort as well as lower abdominal discomfort along the center line of the two halves of the rectus abdominus.
Use KT in pregnancy to help alleviate common aches and pains!!

Is this midline tape beneficial still if you have a huge separation in the middle? Also I have a pretty significant hernia above my belly button. Currently 21 weeks with #7

Congrats on your pregnancy! Yes it can still be helpful. It won't close the gap but can give you some support for unweighting the belly. Try it and let me know how it goes. Free resources on my website too for pregnancy exercises and postpartum core exercises to help start closing the gap. Visit www.rachelpope.co/resources

Is this good for a transverse baby? I need to know a good way to help a baby unable to flip/refusing to flip

Taping is to help support your belly for pain relief and increasing your comfort. It does not help a baby to flip as far as I know.

I did not mean to help him flip I meant for pain relief how do you tape for a transverse baby 😊

@shandacat ahhh, ok. No taping method is specific to baby's orientation. So I would just choose one to try based on any symptoms you're having or how much belly support you might need. The other thing that might help is tummytape, which I didcovered in my next pregnancy after recording these videos. I really loved the somplicity and level of support. You can find it here: mytummytape.com/?ref=7ORFNwINeVm5 Code SAVE gets you 10% off. Hope that helps!!

Yes, you definitely can. You can shower with it on, too. That way you get multiple days' wear from one application.
