Fun fact! The school in this movie, for whatever reason, was used as the model for the first Silent Hill game on ps1. From the shape of it, to the posters on the walls. Seriously. This school is the school in Silent Hill, and that is awesome.

I love this movie. I just watched it last night. This is the guest movie that i got introduced to Arnold. Fun facts: • Filmmakers recruited local Astoria kids to be extras in the school. They were paid $35 a day. The filmmakers auditioned more than 2,000 children for the 30 kids in Kimble's class. • Ivan Reitman invented the five "Reitman Rules of Filmmaking" for the kids: Listen, act natural, know your character, don't look in the camera, and be disciplined. • Jason Reitman: the boy making out with the girl that Kimble interrupts during the real fire drill. • During an off day from filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger flew to Los Angeles to film the teaser trailer for Terminator 2: Judgment Day. •Bill Murray and Patrick Swayze were originally offered the role of John Kimble.

I already know that I'm going to love this reaction! This is one of my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger films, along with the first two "Terminator" movies. I VERY HIGHLY recommend for Coy and Aaron the 1988 Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito comedy "Twins". Not a 90s comedy, but it's pretty close to the 90s and it's Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy. 😊

So funny to see younger people miss all the cues. At the time, absolutely everyone knew it was Dominic. In 90s movie context, this was not subtle, was not secret, and the movie wasn't even trying to hide. :D

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Total Recall the same year as this. This was Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ivan Reitman's follow-up to Twins, which I recommend watching if y'all haven't already. The majority of this was filmed on location in Astoria, Oregon

Linda Hunt was so funny in this movie. She was Henrietta "Hetty" Lang on NCIS: Los Angeles, that's why she looks familiar to you guys. Also, she was just as sassy on the show as she was in the movie. My favorite moment was when DiNozzo from NCIS appeared on an episode and slapped him upside the head like Gibbs does! It's on KZread that scene!

I learned in reading about the behind the scene of afterlife that he often was on set during Ivan's films. it was how he met and became close friends with Harold Ramis' daughter, which in turn is what lead to Afterlife becoming what it is.

To prep for this role the director Ivan Reitman (RIP) left Arnold Schwarzenegger alone in a real kindergarten class!

The Pacifier is a good comp for this movie and so is Tooth Fairy. The Rock also had The Game Plan, which is probably closer than the Tooth Fairy to mirroring this.

Many of the kids in this film recently had a group ZOOM call to celebrate this films anniversary, and Arnie naturally made a surprise appearance. It was heartwarming to watch ☺️

@galmorzu You definitely should. I do preface it with the fact there's a bad meth problem in that region of the state. But the regular people are fun. Plus, you'll find out how unrealistic riding a bike from Astoria to Cannon Beach. Only bad thing in the Goonies lol

One of my favorite film scores. It’s just so heartwarming and sincere. It makes you feel good. Randy Edelman makes it so damn charming.

This movie is proof Arnold can act. The way he starts as the typical 90's tough guy and actually had moments of genuine gentleness and just human moments. Especially for action movie guys like he was stereotyped as.

I sang with the choir at church yesterday and the auxiliary bishop said mass. He sounds just like Arnold even though Rev. Andrzej Zglejszewski is from Poland. He is a wonderful speaker and keeps the people’s attention.

Yesterday I lost someone very close to me and was in a headspace I’d describe as unbreakably bad. But then I see my boys absolutely balling to this movie and I’m laughing like it’s my first time seeing it. Eternal subscriber 🤘🏻

One of my favorite 90’s films and Arnold’s films periods. It has so much heart, and Arnold really is a great comedic actor. I literally cried when I went to Oregon and got to see the school it was shot in.

About 20 years ago there was an online Arnold soundboard that was all the rage. This movie provided a significant portion of the sound for it.

In 2020 or 2021 they had a reunion with the kids and Arnie surprising them.

I miss malls, too. The mall close to me used to have an arcade *and* a pet shop. Any time my parents had to go to the mall (usually Sears and JC Penny runs), I always went to the pet shop to look at the animals (usually cats, birds, and small dogs), then played games right next door. I was so sad when the pet shop closed.

I can't watch a single Arnie thing without replaying in my mind Bill Burr's "so he's not a great man?". My favourite tribute to this legend.

All week I've been feeling like watching this movie. It's a classic to me. I come home from work 3 days ago and see this uploaded, just sat here and watched it with you two. ;-). Arnold eats Breakfast at my hotel restaurant at least 3/4 times a week so its so weird seeing him like this compared to now.

So many great films from childhood were filmed in Astoria, Oregon. Goonies, Kindergarten Cop, Short Circuit are the three I can remember off the top of my head, and if you go to Astoria you can see all the locations. The best film to hunt down the locations is goonies,; the jail, the house, and the best is the fact that the big rock they ride their bikes to in order to see it through the dabloon is so far south from Astoria, Haystack Rock, that it's rediclous that they took a bikeride to it on a whymn.

Growing up and in my teens I absolutely loved these kind of movies. Big action guy doing comedy or something like that (Arnold, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Vin Diesel..). And I continued to love them. I was so happy when Tooth Fairy came out. 😄 In general I prefer light hearted movies like rom-coms and action-comedy over drama. Although I also enjoy movies that make me cry I don't choose to watch those on purpose. And in the 90s we had a lot of movies who had a special kind of comedy in them, but also heart. And I don't know if my memory fails me but I think more kids movies were like this too. Not so extremely colorful and obviously aimed towards children. It's like we were treated more like little adults who can handle it if somebody swears or something like that. I miss those movies and feel very old now. That's probably the reason why my favorite Arnold movies were this one, Twins and Junior when I was younger and later also True Lies. All are on the funny side. Loved Conan, Red Sonja and Total Recall too. I think I like almost every movie I saw him in (haven't seen all of his movies), but those I could watch again almost any time. Maybe it's also the nostalgia, having seen them as a kid or young teen.
