Kimigayo (君が代) - Japan National Anthem

Kimigayo (君が代) is the Japanese national anthem., which you will likely hear during the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. The lyrics of Kimigayo are one of the oldest and shortest among the world's national anthems. In Japanese, "Kimi" indicates the Emperor, who is the symbol of the State and of the unity of the people, and the phrase "Kimigayo" indicates our State, Japan.
Please enjoy this original a cappella arrangement of this traditional hymn.
PS: I took one year of Japanese classes back in University, and I've been meaning to sing in Japanese for a while now. I hope it will sound alright!

Well, it's not a haiku for sure, a haiku is only 12 syllables. But I guess it has the same aesthetics because it comes from the same culture

@@paveldolgopolov7420 maybe in ancient time haiku poems had more? One never knows. :) it's a beautiful sentiment none the less, though pebbles don't usually grow into boulders, it's the opposite over time for most rocks. I guess sediment could grow from a pebble to a Boulder with each covering layer?

Lupang Hinirang (Philippines) (my own translation) Our loving country pearl of the orient sea. The bright burning flames that is in your heart lives on. The land that is chosen to be the cradle of the brave. To any conqueror you will not bow down. From the sea to the hills, in your breezes and blue skies There's grandeur in poetry and songs for the freedom we love. The sparkle in your flag that triumphantly shines; the stars and the sun therein Well never be dimmed. The land of the sun and glory and love, Life is heaven in your care It is our pleasure that if opressors come, to give our lives in death for you

🐻This 【Kimigayo】 (Japanese national anthem) is based on the waka poem ``Unknown to those who compose'' in the 【Kokin Wakashuu】(In 905, in the 5th year of Engi, at the beginning of the 10th century , at the beginning of the Heian period, by order of Emperor Daigo, Ki no Tsurayuki , Ki no Tomonori , Ooshikouchi no Mitsune, Mibu no Tadamine and others became the editors.), the first imperial anthology of Japanese poetry, and sang `` the life span of those who receive blessings.'' However, along with the enactment of the national anthem, there is a place where it changed to a song to celebrate“ the reign of the emperor”. The original text that became the origin of this 【Kimigayo】 , which is contained in the 【Kokin Wakashuu】, is the 【Shinsen Waka】 (930 (Engi 8) - 934 (Johei 4)) of Ki no Tsurayuki's collection, and Fujiwara no Kinto It is also included in the 【Wakan Roueishuu】 (1013, 11th century, Heian period), etc., selected by government officials, and it seems that it was recited as a celebratory song and sung at drinking parties. After that, there is an anecdote that this 【Kimigayo】was widely known as a love song during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Then, in the Edo period, Norinaga Motoori, a scholar of Japanese classical literature known for the 【Kojikiden】 and 【 Genji Monogatari Tama no Ogushi, interpreted 【Kimigayo】in the colloquial language of the 【Kokinshu Tookagami 】 . In the commentary on translation, in the section of ``the original meaning of this song'', this 【Kimigayo】is ``A song celebrating the longevity of ordinary people'', I feel like I get a glimpse of the original 【 Kimigayo】, which is based on eternal youth and longevity, and is full of compassion and auspiciousness. In addition, the first verse of this 【Kimigayo】, which is derived from the 【Kokin Wakashuu】, has changed from ` `Waga Kimi wa'' to “Kimigayo”, which is easy to recite, and is part of the 【Wakan Roueishuu】. Through manuscripts, in the flow of the times, without realizing it, the essence of the song, which has been mysteriously known, has become traditional, and has been handed down from generation to generation, is definitely in this 【Kimigayo】. Even before it became the national anthem, the fact that it was read and understood to some extent well and ideally is a wonderful trajectory (miracle), and I feel that I should respect its origin , and I feel the benefit of it. When we decipher the origins of this 【Kimigayo】, which had the potential to become the national anthem, and when we listen to this 【Kimigayo】 song, we also feel this 【Kimigayo】.I feel like I can touch a glimpse of this 【Kimigayo】, which seems to contain a prayer for eternal peace called longevity. Eventually, the Satsuma Clan Military Band (Satsuma Band), Japan's first modern military band, established in 1869 (Meiji 2), was boarding at Myokoji Temple in Yokohama City, where a military band instructor met. John William Fenton, an Englishman living in Yokohama, recommended the national anthem to Yasuke Oyama (later Field Marshal and Army General Iwao Oyama), the commander of the artillery of the Satsuma clan. I chose 【Kimigayo】from the Satsuma Biwa song 【Horaisan】as the lyrics. Based on this, John William Fenton composed a chorale(hymn)-style 【Kimigayo】, referring to the 【Samurai Song】 sung by his interpreter, Sosuke Harada, a Satsuma samurai. It was premiered the following year in 1870 (Meiji 3) with the Satsuma Band. For that reason, Myoukouji Temple seems to be the birthplace of this 【Kimigayo】.Later, in 1880 (Meiji 13), Hiromori Hayashi and Yoshiisa Oku of the Gagaku Division of the Imperial Household Ministry reset it again, and German music teacher Franz Eckert changed it to Western harmony (Gagaku). It seems that there is a background to the current 【Kimigayo】.By the way, I feel that Iwao Oyama's ``Iwao'' is proof of the passion for ``Kimi'' in this 【Kimigayo】, it literally appears. After that, this 【Kimigayo】 was used in ceremonies after the notification of Minister of Education Kowashi Inoue in 1893 (Meiji 26), and was used as the national anthem in 1930 (Showa 5). There is a fixed place. And Iwao Ooyama, who contributed to this 【Kimigayo】 (Japanese national anthem), seems to have listened to the military song 【Yuki no March】(Advance of snow・1895 (Meiji 28), lyrics and music by Kenshi Nagai) in his later years. When I listen to it, I feel like I can understand the thoughts of Iwao Ooyama, who raised this 【Kimigayo】to the national anthem. Now, even if we break away from the pre-war military color, if we look at it flexibly, Iwao Ooyama's thought is still the starting point of this 【Kimigayo】 even in the present postwar world. It can be said that the author of 【Kokin Wakashuu】, ``The author is unknown,'' has a mysterious and exquisite background, ``the life span of the recipient of the blessing,'' or, depending on the interpretation, ` `eternal love.'' , "eternal bond", etc., and I believe that this song has contributed to the prosperity of the country as a song that will be revered for many years to come. Surprisingly, this 【Kimigayo】was legalized late as a national anthem, and in 1999 (Heisei 11), it was officially recognized in the "Law Concerning Flags and National Anthems". Considering the history of 【Kimigayo】, which has a history dating back to the age of 【Kokin Wakashuu】, it may be justified by the times to keep the tradition of 【Kimigayo】 alive. 🎠This 【Kimigayo】has an attractive melody that makes you feel refreshed and fresh even in the midst of your solemn temperament every time you listen to it. Such that ,I think it's a song. Also, when people face this 【Kimigayo】, they feel solemn because the soul of 【Kimigayo】is deep and full of compassion, is precious and pure, and is somehow backed by legends. Such that,I believe this is because it is full of mysterious power. 🎠This 【Kimigayo】 has a vague and hazy atmosphere, and I feel that it has a subtle nuance, as if it is exuding an eternal light that is endless and somehow nostalgic. 🎠As if knowing the soul of this 【Kimigayo】, Mr. Julien Neel sings with a transparent temperament, mysteriously soft, pure and carefree, and I was able to listen to his heart and singing voice, and was captivated by it. ❤️Please be aware that there may be discrepancies in phrasing between Japanese and English due to language differences, making it difficult to communicate. 🌸Heart cherry blossom news from Japan, the land of cherry blossoms.

🐻In this 【Kimigayo】 (Japanese national anthem), you can feel the importance of extremely noble and solemn feelings, soothe your mind and purify yourself. By the way, this 【Kimigayo】somehow has an atmosphere of surrendering oneself to a Japanese Shinto shrine, and in this 【Kimigayo】, like the sanctuary of such a shrine, people are revered . I feel that the wise (and fearful) solemnity dwells in it, as if there is a great deal of benefit from the gods and buddhas. In this way, this 【Kimigayo】 accepts the mystical energy, and the uniquely Japanese and uniquely atmospheric emotion that is unique to Japan approaches each person's feelings solemnly and deeply. I believe that this song has an exquisite view of the world where the spirit of God and the soul that feels this 【Kimigayo】can meet. And also this 【Kimigayo】 is from the era of 【Kokin Wakashuu】, the author is unknown, and it is ``the writer's unknown''. And among the world's national anthems, the spirit of 【Kimigayo】, which is rooted in the oldest kotodama (the mystical power of words), respects the basic dignity of people and wishes for a long life, continues unremittingly. Combining with a melody of a very mysterious temperament, benevolent, graceful and gentle, I can also feel the exquisite effect, like the eternal trajectory (miracle) of this world slowly passing by. In this 【Kimigayo】, respecting the nature of the poetry orchestra, somewhere meaningful, stable, heavy bass is used (listened), solemnly. I am fascinated by the solemn and unrelenting spirit of 【Kimigayo】,and maybe you too.

Great rendition! In general in international events when the Japanese anthem is played (or even in the Sumo tournaments), it’s a comparative downer. A little too sedate for such a song. Beautiful as an independent piece though.

As much as I enjoy Family Guy, I'd rather not sing controversial songs these days... The world has gone pretty sensitive, sometimes touchy, about a lot of things.
