KIM FOWLEY :: The Outrageous Interview !

Музыка

De passage à Paris pour un concert psychotique, Kim se la joue face caméra pour Gonzaï pour, du haut de ses deux mètres, nous faire bouffer l'hostie du rock'n'roll. À presque 73 ans, qui dit mieux ?

I'm often surprised at how many places Fowley pops up as a producer or impresario or lyricist. Never got to the Phil Spector or Rick Rubin level of success but he managed to hustle a living from the late 50's 'til his final years: Paule Revere, the Seeds, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Blue Cheer, the Runaways, Ariel Pink, Leather Nun, Soft Machine, the Modern Lovers, and a lot of one-off novelty records and minor hits. The son of B-movie actors, he became a B-music producer. And some of his own music is pretty damn cool. Animal Man, for example. A sleazeball, but he was the first to admit it! His memoir Lord of Garbage is an interesting look at how hits were manufactured back in the day--and prolly still are. Find some minor talent or good-looking couple, shove 'em in a studio with some session players and some lyrics written on the spot, record, release, and hope that it's a hit. More often than not it wasn't, but he did get lucky on a few occasions. I suppose there are still Kim Fowleys out there pulling the same hustle in LA, Orlando....shamelessly working it less for the art than for the business. A scumbag, but a fascinating scumbag. He's like the LA music industry boiled down to its gooey essence, poured into a human-shaped mould, and let loose upon the world of aspiring rock stars. There have to be hundreds of "Kim Fowleys" out there....but only one Kim Fowley....as fascinating as he is repellent.

Sur Gene Vincent, il ne dit pas "Je suis fier de l'avoir produit" mais "I produced him on "I'm back & I'm proud"" (l'album qu'ils ont fait ensemble). Merci pour le reste! ;-)

I love how his girlfriend who’s what 20-30 years younger than him is smiling with glee as he talks about raping women in the 1950’s & raping/abusing a cat. Like the amount people will go for money is mind boggling to me.

The dame beside him thinks..."you ramble on Kimmy".......Yeah...he certainly produced some interesting things, but hardly much to get worked up about..Seems he had to plant one of his many callgirls beside him ,to avoid the impression he was a sad lonely old man, with no one to shed a tear for him on his death bed. All that rattling off famous names, you would think he was living like Phil Spector in some heavily fortified Hollywood castle ; yet he lives in a desolate L A suburb, with not much to show for all his "scheming"... He's mostly known for his association with that mediocre gurl group "The Runways", who were "Big In Japan", which didn't earn them a lousy yen....All that self promotion is mostly done by insecure souls who haven't that much to promote... Loved "Alley Oop" and "The Belfast Gypsies". Anyway...he left the planet for some time now , so.... rip in peace Fowley....

Joan Jett who was present at the event where it was said to occur said she saw nothing.

@@MistersandyrobertsonI was raped and didn’t name him until I was old enough to realize it was wrong. I’d deny it happened as a child because I thought it was consensual because he was my boyfriend. But that clearly was not the case. Victims tend to defend their abusers out of fear of abandonment or retaliation. If you haven’t experienced sexual abuse please keep your mouth shut because you don’t know how it works or how they act.

@@jessiem419 I was a victim of attempted sexual assault when I was a 7 year old boy, and told my parents immediately, so please don't make assumptions about my character and stifle the rudeness. Are you saying Kim raped you or are you talking about someone else? When you say you thought it was consensual, are you saying you were forced or do you mean it was technically rape because of your age as it's not clear. I don't think KF talking about grabbing women off the street means he raped them; that's just the hyperbolic way he talked to be provocative.
