@@shogunc7718 Completely agree. I loved this trailer but the game ended up being superior. Probably less polygons but the overall atmosphere was much better. I´m waiting for it to be on pc now that sony is releasing games on it, at least I hope the port it.

When this came out I was 15yo...I remember watching this trailer over and over and over again for like a hole fucking month every day...good old days.

@@samuelmendozacardenas9303 Yep what this guy said, there was a big controversy at the time because they had claimed it was in-game footage and not pre-rendered. Which while to some it may not look impressive now, back in 2005 this was incredibly impressive. Of course it turned out it was in fact pre-rendered. They did a good job with the games graphics for the time, but that largely got overshadowed with their lies about the trailer.

It's funny how obviously fake this all looks now but at the time I was so blown away that I believed it would actually look like this haha! The facial animations still look good even by today's standards, they really had us all going, but I'll never forget it

I think some of the sequences in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (the old one, I haven't played the new campaign) come close to matching the energy in it.

I swear if it hadn't been that a base PS3 model cost 50$ more than a Blu-Ray player - which were still massively overpriced due to being new technology - the thing would have utterly failed within its first year.

today everyone is obsessed with playing pacman at 16k 1000 fps.

This is the only trailer that ever truly blew my mind.

Not sure why this trailer came to mind but damn like many of the comments this was like…mind blowing levels of awesome. The details were crazy! Even little things back then like the dude getting shot and catching onto the railing. That kinda immersion was so cool haha

PS5 can finally handle that texture and smoke, they should remake this game

I don’t think anyone thought it was actual ps3 gameplay. I’m pretty sure it was known to be cgi and what they were “targeting” for gameplay. I remember seeing this live in 2005 and knew this.

This was the start of the golden period of gaming ...the next gen, it was amazing time. The hype of the next gen, seeing your fav old games coming to the next gen. The hype was real.

2016, and iam still dreaming of these graphics..

The zoom feature and the grenade launcher were not in the finished product. Instead it use the targeting zoom from call of duty games. What a lie.

@@agamaz5650 Also those animations and movement would be shitty for a fps. Take something like Red dead Redemption 2, which has amazing animations, but there so floaty and take a ton of time, it gets in between the gameplay.

Although this doesn't look that amazing by today's standards I remember we were all blown away back in the day lol

for real time this looks amazing.

The final game arguably looked better than this in a lot of respects. One notable thing is the setting and art style in the final game was so much more interesting. In the 2005 trailer we get a bland daytime setting, however in the final game we got a darker, gritty style with lightning storms with fantastic lighting effects with chaos and destruction happening all around you.

Exactly Buddy I thought the same thing as you said the thunder storms and dust particles in the air and the wind would blow the rain drops past you and it has the very same real life color dynamics and the way you fly into the first level in the day time is amazing the only thing they obviously couldn't have done was the same animation facial structure while flying into the level in the pods they really did finish it with a blast I loved it my friend I hope you appreciate my scroll of a reply my deepest apologies it is an honor to send you this mutual agreement 👍💯🇮🇪

When this came out back in the day, I knew it wasn't in game...the giveaway: no HUD...no aimer, ammo count, health bar, ...to be fair the game looked fine when it came out, the visuals were close enough for me in the finished game to not be upset, but we never got the epic battles with dozens of combatants, and organic a.i and animation battlefield

Well they claimed it was a cutscene created with the in-game engine. Which was complete bullshit :P It was pre-rendered, regardless of their claims to the contrary.

I was just a stupid 15 year old at the time of this trailer being released. I got conned into thinking this was actual gameplay - I don't think I'd ever been so hyped for a game or a console. Even looking back at this trailer from today, it could easily pass for a game in this generation. Is this one of the most misleading trailers of all-time?

Came here remembering of this trailer after i saw the PS5 Horizon Forbidden West 4K gameplay trailer...this is still superior for animations, post processing and overall fidelity, who knows maybe at the end of this generation in 4 or 5 years Guerrilla will be able to make this Killzone on PS5 or PS5 Pro

because each hair strand has physics and is animated, that isn't possible in real time, nor those kind of self shadow casting/ray traced smoke particle effects

I remember how amazing this looked back then. Nowadays there are better graphics and physics in video games.

killzone is one of the best games in the ps platforms. however there is one problem. when i play killzone on my psp and its loading. it shuts off.

im just noticing the Intruders have Mounted Machine Guns for the passengers

Mad how quickly animation and just the look of humans ages badly in games a lot of the particle effects still hold up but the fire looks funny

This would have made an awsome movie.

So the game itself came out a bit different from this trailer. If we compare, the mission kinda has the same vibe, but... still different from the final retail game.

They really tried to say this was PS3 huh. The character models look PS4-ish, but the post-processing, animations, and amount of stuff happening on screen is like PS5 level

Is it weird to prefer game release graphics to this?

There are a lot of idiots judging this trailer by the graphics, the wonderful and exceptional in this trailer is the animation and physics, look at the characters how they act and interact with the environment very naturally as if they are real and look at the objects scattered from the explosive helicopters and vehicles how they fall on the ground realistically, there's so much things going on in every second as if it's a real scene, Name one game that has this degree of realism and quality

Keep in mind this was a pre-rendered trailer, so I can't even name Killzone 2 as a game with this much realism and quality. It was pretty impressive at the time even as pre-rendered visuals. But this is equivalent to a CGI movie. They didn't need to render in real time while players were moving through and interacting with the environment while having AI also moving around. Which means they were not bound by optimizing the footage for performance standards. They could add as much stuff and fidelity as they wanted without having to worry about a player getting 10 frames a second. With many players now expecting a minimum of 60 frames a second, it stops many games from utilizing the best looking lighting and things like that in order to balance performance.

The reason I waited for Ps3 instead of settling for a junky x360...Btw KillZone 2 was awesome, UnCharted, Last of Us, Resistance Fall of Man, MotorStorm...EPIC every one of them...waiting for their Ps5 iterations.

No. This was the reveal trailer for KZ2 at E3 2005. Sony lied and said it was an actual PS3 tech demo.

1:38 hilarious death, the guy is very busy giving you orders while wide open to the enemy even tho you don't give darn for him you not even answering to anybody lol
