I’m so glad I found this. My wife and I have argued a few times about Howard and Jesse. I’m in favor of Jesse because I prefer the raw, underground sound he brings. But I love both of them. I’ve told her multiple times that Howard has a couple of effects over his voice to make him sound good. She tells me I’m full of shit. Well.. here ya go. Howard Jones with effects and auto tune on his voice. And you can’t say it’s the set because Adam D. still sounds good. Ever since I bought Set This World Ablaze live DVD it has bothered the ever living shit out of me because you can hear it clear as day. And it bothers me because people worship the ground he walks on and say he’s better than Jesse. Well I saw right through that bullshit.

While yes some effects were used in World Ablaze I’ve heard many people who say they were at the show and he sounded almost completely like the dvd. Yes he struggles hitting some notes but he is still miles better than Jesse. Jesse’s underground style provides no freshness he does the same thing every song especially in Atonement. Again Howard isn’t perfect but if you listen to both singers in their primes Howard could hit almost every note and his Vocal range literally kills Jesse in both singing and screaming. Even now in 2020 Howard still sounds much better than Jesse, granted he’s had time to rest his voice and isn’t going through the issues that plagued him in 2007-2011. Jesse has wrote some great songs and Alive or Just Breathing is a great album but he simply doesn’t compare to Howard, even in this live performance Howard sounds much better than Jesse.

Agreed..he legit sounds like trash here. I've always liked Jesse better and I feel like when Howard came on it changed Killswitch as a band it bummed me out but it Is what it is...but for a live performance this is fucking horrid

He always sounds like this live, and I say that as a fan of the band. Jesse is a better lyricist for sure, but overall Howard is better live to me. Look up the Light the Torch full show at Saint Vitus Bar and listen to him now that he's healthier.

It was a live DVD. That's what bands do for live DVD's. They did the same thing for Jesse when they were intending to release their Halloween 2014 show as a DVD (plans fell through). kzread.info/dash/bejne/iW2O3KajXdXef9Y.html Same thing. Autotune and effects on both Jesse and Adam to tighten their voices up. That's not proof that they need it as a crutch.

@@ogbee9690 They went on tour in October of 2006, took December off, then started up again in January 2007, didn't stop until December 15th, then picked it back up in January of 2008, and didn't stop until October 24th. Insane amount of shows lol. No hate intended, just thought you'd like to know why his voice sounded off
