I can't overstate what a pleasure it was talking to Killer Mike. Beyond being an absolute beast behind the mic, dude is such a dynamic thinker and his heterodox approach to music, politics and life is both refreshing and challenging. No sounds or ideas go untested, and whether you love his work, or agree with his beliefs, you have to respect the coherence of his POV and his commitment to constant elevation. MICHAEL is easily my favorite album of 2023 (so far, of course) and it's inspiring to see a man of 48 years-old who continues to push himself to new depths of emotional candor, and his craft to new levels of technical innovation in the name of art, of greatness, and of personal growth.
