Killer combo -- high surf warning and 8 3 high tide at Devils Kitchen, Bandon, OR on 1/10/21

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The January King Tides are the 11th through the 13th, but this combo on the 10th is bigger than many King Tides and will be really hard to beat! There is NO beach left, the waves are rushing right up into the dunes.

The Pacific ocean along the Oregon coast so majestic but you always need to be on guard and respect the power of the ocean along the Oregon coast. It is the most beautiful place to be in all weather. Great video

I believe 'killer' is well chosen for your title. I shudder to imagine being swept out into that terribly turbulent water... with logs added. A person wouldn't last long.

Awesome and a bit scary. The giant log on the sandbar got pushed up there by a wave and so were the other tree trunks on the beach, a testament to the power of big waves. It's an almost 2 minute interval between the waves reaching the highest part of the beach. I think some areas can see a 5 to 10-minute interval so people get caught unawares by sneaker waves barreling in.

I kept waiting for you to hold on the north beach while one of the big surges came in so we could see how far up it came. There were some pretty good sized breakers not too far offshore. You have a GREAT vantage point! You ought to think about putting up a camera out there and just running a continuous feed like some of the train watching feeds such as Flagstaff.

When you zoomed in at 6.24, the handful of sticks showed themselves to be 20 to 40 foot logs, the scale of things pops out. Its hard to tell at first how high you are above the beach, and what a huge area this actually is.

Depending how long this lasted, I can imagine that elevated section of sand on the left, with the tree trunk on top of it, might have been washed away completely. And then the sand would gradually get built back up to this level again. Nature's way.
