That motor is toasty, Joe! Haha. Well done, my man! I think a nice 3500kv brushless system might be the ticket for that buggy. You can run 2S in the soft stuff, and 3S when you wanna go fast, and hopefully nothing goes up in smoke. 😅

Now that had a lot more pep in it's step, slinging rocks and dirt everywhere. Sorry to hear that it killed the motor. You can hear in your voice that you had fun with it. Hope you find a different motor to put in it for more 3S fun. Take care and stay safe

thinking about a 4000kv

Not surprising, back in the 80's my brother and I ran 7 cell NiCd batteries on our RS-540 motors (Tamiya Rough Rider), then we thought MORE POWER and tried 8 cells. Well It worked for a little bit till the motor end bell melted from so much heat generated by running 8 cells (that is 9.6V), oops... Cheers!

great execution! 24 mph at 2s and 33 mph at 3s is not bad, what impressed me most is that you say that the differential and gearbox did not suffer wear. (the spur gear and the pinion) also look very good! Perhaps this time the friends at Kyosho improved the quality of the plastics and metals used in the internal and external part of the differential as well as the pair of small gears next to it. greetings friend

I'm happy with driving my axxe at 23 mph per hour without breaking a single transmission gear tooth! This buggy can definitely give us many smiles

That smell of burning electronics Joe, we all know it...I was thinking about picking one up too, but I would be too tempted to spend another $150 to make it better. So hard to walk out of the hobby store without another RC car or kit 😂

No matter what kit we buy, we will always try and make it better.unless it's a vintage shelf queen that gets driven in the living room lol. For 139.00 it's a great little runner. It's going brushless now

That's the thing with motors, I have found not all will take 3s and they can be the same size but different turns and from the same company. It was good on 3s while it lasted, brushless might be the way to go.

Ah, bummer you smoked the motor! But sometimes it's worth it, looks like good fun on 3s! The (plastic) pinion is pretty big, right? Maybe when you get a steel pinion, drop to a bit fewer teeth? The buggy handled pretty alright at speed. It's not as cheapo as I first thought it would be...

For a $139.00 RTR that comes with oil shocks, ball bearings, 22 turn motor, bead lock rims. I like it and it looks great. Now it's brushless time!

It looked fun as long it lasted 😊 is that the Surpass hobby/Yeah racing motor?

I'm not surprised you killed that motor running it on 3s over kill for brushed motor and all the black over that shaft is the carbon from your brushes well was your brushes I don't think you have no left after that

Lol neither was I. I thought it was fun and funny. The brushes were perfectly fine, and so was the armature. The black was the copper wire and the coating they put on it. Thanks for watching!

Its the stock gearing 27 pinion 91 spur. i could lower the pinion. its going brushless now hahaha
