Sis, DON'T DO IT!!!! Unless you're going to get rid of it within 1-2 years. Physically, they are beautiful cars, but Benz do not build their vehicles like they use to. I've experienced things that shouldn't have occurred to a Benz (and I still have mine) and was told by them it's normal wear and tear. Back up camera stop working ($300), key fob broke had to buy a new key ($500!!), sunroof stop working twice ($100 first time, figured it out myself the next time), had to replace speakers ($300 ea), woodtrim on doors started warping I guess due to heat even though my car stays in a garage (had to be replaced $200 ea), navigation knob controller stopped working ($1,000!!!), navigation system intermittently stops working altogether, all within 5-6 years. I've looked this stuff up out of frustration and it isn't just my car, these are common issues! No exaggeration, no hating. This is all in love to save another sister the headache. I've done a little research and found the top makers are Porsche, Audi, and maybe Lexus. These makes have the least complaints. ❤ UPDATE: I know this post is long, I'm sorry. But, I have to say this. This is for ALL my people, not just towards Ki Ki. I did the same as Ki Ki and awarded myself with a Benz. I work for the military. Throughout the years of ownership I began noticing Benz, BMW, and Cadillac seem to be the African American's standard of "success", esp. Benz. So, going back to the military, a year or so ago while walking through the parking lot on base I noticed literally all of the higher grades (13+ or $100k+ which is high in my area) are driving Hyundai, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Kia and they may be 10, 15, even 20 years old. I'm not making this a race thing, but at that moment I realized whites aren't putting their money in cars FIRST or even second, but instead, homeownership, education, their family, businesses, investments, retirement, THEN cars. I told myself I see how they're doing things so next time I'll be smarter with mine. Just a little something to chew on. God bless!

Wow! What model do you have? I have an E-Class and have had not a single issue (fingers crossed)! This is my 6th Benz and will agree that the quality has fallen off since my first 1986 S Class but I still think they are enjoyable cars.

Kasual S. On average 5/6 years. But then again in that time frame I only put 30/35k on it. So it doesn’t get driven daily.

Lease through your company, so you can write the whole thing off as a business expense.

Buy a car that will last and not the newest edition. As soon as you leave the car lot, it depreciates immediately. I would actually focus on property and keeping generational wealth in mind.

Exactly!!!!My parents inherited $$$ & property that was sold for a million dollars, My husband & I both inherited $$$$ & property from our parents and will make sure our children inherit $$$$ & property from us. Our 1 daughter who is only 22 & owns property. Our people must change their minds on what's really success & valuable. It's definitely not over priced vehicles that depreciates 10-20% the minute you drive it off the lot. Not putting a dime in your bank account, but just the opposite. Lets not talk about these apartments or Mama's house their driving these cars to & not homes that they OWN.

Honeeeey, I wish I was there to whisper some nuggets of info in your ear! I have a Finance background (also Automotive Finance and Leasing). Soooo much goes on behind the scenes. 😶 I'm not a supporter of leasing, but there are situations where it's the better option. 🗣Just one tip: Never go into the dealership telling them what payment amount you need. It's a setup!!! And never trust a dealer... even the nice ones!!🧐

This is true never tell them how much you are going to put down without viewing the sticker price first always be prepared to negotiate your down payment and remember sales people are paid to get the deal done they're paid to be nice to you he may have walked away and googled you and came back. It's a numbers game. Stay woke.

Shop around for a better interest rate Ki! You'll usually get the best rate through your bank, especially a credit union. Also, the best advice I was given when negotiating for a car was to NEVER tell the dealer your ideal monthly payment amt or they will structure the deal based on what you say PLUS a little more, when you may have possibly qualified for a lower rate. That's how they get you because it's usually the FIRST thing they ask. Just tell them "it depends" because it truly does and only on the price of the car & your interest rate. I got the rates I wanted on 2 brand new cars using that strategy. Just keep saying NO until the numbers they run land in the range you have in mind. I even left the dealership both times and both times they called me back with rates that worked for me- with NO downpayments! Downpayments are your last bargaining chip & are really an incentive for the dealer/salesman because they keep that money in house while your monthly payments actually go to whomever finances the vehicle. Also an FYI, I will probably NEVER buy brand new again since cars lterally depreciate the moment you drive off the lot.

Get a 2 year old, certified, pre-owned Benz (prior lease). Just like new, depreciated, low miles, well-maintained, still under warranty. You will save a LOT!!

Never tell them(sales person) how much you wanna pay a month. They will get your payments in that range but you will be paying 84 months. Buy a car that's at least 2 to 3 years old, it will deprecate by at least 30% in that timeframe. Also, secure financing prior to going to the dealership (your bank, credit union, pre-apply for an auto loan via a third party such as capital one auto finance), that way you will know what your payment would be and you can see how adding a down payment and/or choosing a different term will affect your payment.

Girl I feel you on the home replacement of big items I just bought my 1st home two years ago it was a wonderful but a struggle. I paid off my car it’s regular cobalt but it’s mine and I wanted a house. I wanted equity and feel accomplished. Always wanted a nice car after college but not what happened. I’m a single mom I’m 30 with chronic illness Crohn’s disease. I had to make that decision when my central air went out. This summer. They wanted $3000 to get a whole new unit. I have home warranty and that helps with big items when it goes out. I say use it as a tax write off or a sponsorship and or lease and you can upgrade or just keep the Tahoe and wait until you can pay cash. I know this is a year ago but someone may need options. Research is key. Always Treat yo self. 💜 you and Court had me dying. 🤣😂

I think you should wait. you've got more valid reasons NOT to get it than to get it. Maybe it will be a great present at 35 when the businesses have hit some milestones and we are more secure in "the bag." But waiting may be best.

This sounds like the conversation with myself and my sister LOL definitely do both the furnace and air conditioner together see if you can do it on payment plan. But from what it sounds like wait on getting the vehicle I say that b/c cars even nice ones depreciate immediately off the lot quickly. Yes its an educated decision to buy a vehicle that'll last longer. Merchandises is actually a great band of luxury car but if you switch cars a lot then you might want to do a lease type of thing b/c you switch up a lot. But you'd have a new vehicle every 3 years. Luxury cars are good for leasing purposes b/c you don't want to keep it really more than 3 years. But also I don't know how your area is I'm in DC and MD so we have to have car insurance which goes WAYYYYY UP when you get a luxury vehicle b/c it cost much more to fix those vehicles than it would a regular vehicle. Maintenance is definitely something to think about as well

Never ask a salesman finance questions bc he gonna tell you what’s best for his pockets. Need an update did you get the car?
