The area around Kidwelly is also known for Cockles which in my time was collected by hand from the sea shore and the are delicious with vinegar as I can vouch and our mother and father and brother . There was a elderly woman who came around the houses in the Rhondda selling cockles from a wooden shell barrow and our mother used to purchase some in a glass jar; a large one, they are delicious. or ware as I remember as now I live in Belgium have done for 40 years.

Sarah do you know how many castles Wales had altogether? It seems for such a small country that theres no shortage.

I don't know the total. I don't know that anyone does! Wales does have more castles per square mile than any other country in Europe.

Where I lived before moving to London and later to Belgium there was at least three castles perhaps four. and further afield more castles. I Lived in the Rhondda Valley not far from Cardiff. there is Carephilly Castle. Castle Cocl and Cardiff Castle and further afield Ogmore Castle I just remembered that one.
