    "Step on a crack, break your mother's back" is a saying in English that children will say. It's a game of not stepping on the sidewalk cracks, or else you'll lose!

    @Sarah Choi I know a lot of people who dressed like that in highschool. You don't REGRET or feel embarrassed about it. My mom was a full blown goth, with the makeup, the big ruffles, crazy jewelery and all. She LOVES showing people those pictures.

    Saying "she's probably gonna regret dressing like that" and that it's just a phase kinda throws her into a box and invalidates how she's expressing herself, which isn't really nice. Like sure there are some that are going to regret it, but I feel like outright stating it like that isn't helping anyone :/

    Thank you to the crew of HiHo for making these videos. I love seeing kids get to ask the questions. I’m legally blind & hearing impaired and I’m always willing to answer kids’ questions when they ask me. The worst is when the parents make a big deal about it to the kids which makes it feel like there’s something “wrong” and then the kids start to fear me. Bummer :-/ So thanks for making it real and approachable! Plus, sometimes people have the best questions or points of view. I’ve had so many things said to me over the years that have made me stop and think or expanded my viewpoint, both good and bad. Yay for showing the world that those of us dealing with disabilities are really no different than anyone else, we just approach the world in a way that works for us...which, if you think about it, everyone does! :-]

    I love those kids comments! I have the exact type of Spina Bifida. I feel completely blessed though, I have been able to walk most of my life first on my own then with a cane. Even though I’ve been having to use a wheelchair more now I still feel blessed. I think my faith has helped me the most to remain positive and keep plugging along. God is good for sure! ❤

    I'm gonna pull a Hermione. It's not "Spaina", it's "Spina" (with "i" pronounced as the "e" in the English alphabet). I'm not kidding. It's for real. That's the actual pronunciation.

  • @FeatherWait

    @FeatherWait

    6 жыл бұрын

    I'll Hermione you right back: It's a word that has entered the English lexicon. As such, the pronunciation has been Anglicised for English speakers, so technically it's not incorrect. That's without going into the hot mess that is English pronunciation.

  • @SDayle

    +Feather Wait I understand, but, since "spina bifida" is the term used globally to reference to this birth defect, I still think that using the actual pronounciation would be beneficial for everybody.
