I’m 58 years old now, and I still know these lyrics! 😁
OK I'm shedding a couple of tears now! What days! What memories! The 70s were the best! I'd turn it on at 8:30; leave for Sunday School at 9:30; and come home at 11 to watch the rest! See you in Heaven Bob Mcallister!

I met this guy at a grand opening of Toys R us in Levittown, NY. He gave me an autographed 8x10 of himself and told me to put it out to keep the rats away. RIP Bob McAllister!
I remember this song like it was yesterday. Wow, so much time has passed. Wonderama and the "Banana Splits" show!!

This was my ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW. I ALSO watched this on a channel in NJ on the weekends at my grandparents. When I think of wonderama, I imagine bleachers, the 'W' wave and the exercise song. Come on every body. Come and get some exercise. Pushing 58, I sing that aloud and just it's magic! I start to get into getting my hr rate up. Wow! It's too bad we couldn't tell him what an impact he made. Mr Roger's was my 1st crush @ 5. Wonderama was 6,8? About 1970-1975? But Bob McAllister was my idol. Anyone know if there's any way to contact or find a wonderama museum/website? Ty 4 posting. Made my day!
I'm eating Honeycomb cereal while I listen to this.

I was on this show three times as a kid. It took 9 hours to film and all they gave us to eat was good humor ice cream and RC Cola. It was a blast! Loved Bob McAllister, he was a great guy.

Wow, there is something I haven't heard in over 45 years. Cheers to all us old folks who remember this, I think they should bring this type of show back, kids today would love it.

@@DanaTheInsane Sophisticated? Really. Like doing homework, learning in school and tryin' to live by the Golden rule. Somehow I don't think "sophisticated" is the best choice of words.
He was a great guy. He had the kids playing games on the show, and if they beat the game, they got a prize. If they didn't beat the game, he still gave em a prize. He just couldn't say no to those kids. I sure miss him.
Incredible. It's been literally decades since I last heard this song, yet I remember every word perfectly.

Wow.....my childhood all over again. I was one of those kids in the audience but didn't get picked. Soooo many memories. We would watch it while getting ready for Sunday school. What a time to be a kid!!!
I remember this song. I loved watching Wonderama on CH. 5 back in the 70's!!!
This song goes straight to my core being. Thanks.
Wow the 70’s are still alive 👍👍👍
I remember this so well. Nice childhood memory😃
I was watching the New Wonderama, and decided to look up Bob Mcallister's Wonderama. I just viewed Bob interviewing Roger Daltry of The Who, and I remember seeing ABBA on the show when I was a kid. As soon as Kids are people too came on the lyrics just came to me. I haven't heard this song in over 40 years, and I remembered every word. That's so crazy!
Just brings tears to my eyes, just to see Bob McCalister and hear Kid's are people too theme song, Also the games he played with kids.
I loved the show as a kid. As an adult and musician, I notice the song is based on the same chords as “Five foot two, eyes of blue”. Love the banjo in the introduction.
Brings me back to my childhood remember bob mcallistar and wonderramma very fondly
I remember it used to come on every Sunday morning 🌄
WOW! The lyrics are flowing outta me as if its on T.V. right now!!
Bob McCallister owned Saturday mornings. Well him, bugs bunny and the road runner :-)

Oh, bring back those days!
I was just thinking about this song because I saw this show back in the 70s. It sticks out in my mind that the host called his dog Waka-Doo and said that in the middle of the song as the dog walked up to him.
Wow, I used to love watching this show and singing this song all the time!
I watched one episode where he had a Simon Says master on. I still remember some of the tricks I learned.

Never watched this show because i'm not from the US but i loved this song. i love 60s/70s music
The good old days. Sigh.
Such good memories. God is good.😉
brings me back to happy days of my youth
BTW, this was the guy who founded Kid Stuff Records in 1975 by a TV host named Bob McAllister where he hosted “Wonderama”. He was label’s founder. A year later, Kid Stuff was part of IJE from 1976 until 1986 when Kid Stuff folded and IJE went into the video game business.
Absolutely amazing, thank you so much for sharing this with us. It has taken me back to the simpler, better times of my childhood.
Omg you really dug in the mothballs for this one! Thank you for digging this out and letting us hear it again
This show just popped in my head and I wanted to hear the theme song so here I am. Wooow remember watch this with my sister!!!! Memories!!!!
lols! that's beautiful! you know someone's for real when they say something like that while giving you their picture! God bless Bob McAllister!
Miss the 70s soooo much fun so cell phones
Yup! I remember this show, and this song. I have even sung it to myself over the years! Yeah, it was just a corny kids show... But when YOU were the korny kids, it meant something! I was maybe 6-7 at the time... WAY back!
As an adult probably the most tearfully joyful song besides Ray Stevens' Everything is Beautiful. I'd forgotten all about this and happened on it looking for the exercise song. And wonder how many of today's child educators even know this song exists.
Along with Bob Mccallister, lets not forget Chuck McCann and Sandy Becker! God rest their souls!
Waka doo waka doo waka doo...💓

We'll remember this song and commercials with jingles forever, because they're catchy, most commercials today are confusing, what are they selling? Songs will be forgotten too, what are they saying? Go back to this and people would be humming along, or it gets stuck in their head.
Wow thanks for the great memories
What memories. Just in case anyone is interested, the chords for this song are C7 E7 Amin D7 G7 C The bridge is E7 Amin D7 G7 to a G augmented which is optional.
I remember watching this show every sunday morning before going to church with mom. I had to wait for her to get ready. For a kid's show they had some popular rock act's come on, was surprised. I saw the New York Dolls, KIss and even Meatloaf. Then they just pulled the plug. like that. I liked the " kids are people too" song. It was something kid's universally understood that grown-up's could'nt. the good old day's.
thanks for the extra info. I enjoyed this show in its last years .
Lol to the cereal you were eating while watching this on tv
I actually have his album with that song on it as well as Exercise
The bridge of 'Santa Baby' always reminds me of the bridge of this song. (By the way, this video's recording sounds like only one channel of a stereo mix.)

All I know is that, as a kid, you couldn't just turn on the TV and watch "The Benny Hill Show." You had to work your way up to it by first seasoning yourself with "The Gong Show." But even before that, you had to watch "Wonderama." I mean, "Sesame Street" was hip. "The Electric Company" was hip. "ZOOM" was hip. This thing was an awful embarrassment. Of course, as sure as the sun rises from the East, my father LOVED it, especially the "wacka-doo, wacka-doo, wacka-doo" part of the theme song. And just to show you where I'm going with this, HIS two favorite TV shows happened to be "'Benny Hill" and "The Gong Show." I suppose he wanted me to dig "Wonderama" so it could become a sort of father-son thing. No dice...
@DanaTheInsane

It wasn't hip. But it wasn't preachy either. It wasn't trying to educate you or make you a better person (and I did love all those shows), it was just good silly fun for kids, and when you are eight years old that's what counts.
Today's kids show sucks
