Kidney/Renal Function Tests
In order to assess renal function a number of tests have been developed which give information regarding the following parameters.
Renal blood flow
Glomerular filtration rate
Renal glomeruli function
Renal tubular function and
Urinary output.
The various renal function tests have been divided into the following groups
1. Urine analysis: which includes:
-- Physical examination
-- Chemical examination
-- Microscopic examination to identify the presence
of urinary casts and crystals.
2. Estimation of serum and urine markers of renal function
-- Serum creatinine
-- Serum urea (or blood urea nitrogen, BUN)
-- Protein in urine (proteinuria)
-- Red blood cells in urine (hematuria).
3. Estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR)
-- Creatinine clearance test
-- Urea clearance test
-- Inulin clearance test.
4. Tests of renal tubular function
Urine concentration test (Water deprivation test)
Urine dilution test (Excess water intake test)
Acid load test (Urine acidification test)

Yes you can include electrolytes, uric acid too in the RFT depend on the clinical condition of patients but most of the lab do urea and creatinine in the RFT
