Yep, sheryl is from Kenneth, Missouri. It’s right in the bottom of the boot heel, not far from the Missouri AND Tennessee border.

Seriously. The version with Alison Krauss is good and I love her voice...but Sheryl Crow was meant for this song.

Sheryl Crow will break your heart... and keep doing it as long as you go back to listen over and over. She's amazing!!

I always been a Kid Rock fan , when this came out i was like "Holy crap" ! Their both very talented and i agree with Lex about her voice, its pure feminine :)

They didn't break up just 3 days ago, but they were still talking after a break up and 3 days went by where he didn't call. They did date in real life for a bit after they collaborated on this. This song came out when my husband and I were separated, going through a divorce. We both listened to it a lot, and got back together, having 3 more children, staying together until he passed away far too young (45).

Remember when she was a guest on a public radio 88.7 wncw in 93/94 right when her first albu. Was realsed. and one of the station employees asked us not to scare her. This is also on a college campus and one of my friends had Cannibal corpse as guest on ARC overnight and a couple of us looked the part of metal heads. She needed some help carrying a few things in and we helped. She is a sweet lady and asked who was the band tshirt I had on, GG Allin suicide tour. She appeared to be entertained.

I always thought the same as Brad, damn it’s only been 3 damn days. Lol

Sheryl Crow has so many hits! Strong Enough is a good next one.

During all this...she survived breast cancer...Strong Woman indeed.

I never listened to Kid Rock before this song and was amazed he could sing like that too. They are actually living in the same area of Tennessee and are as close proximity as you can get in the middle of huge farms. They both have a ton of land. Kid Rocks home is actually a very well built modular home wrapped in camouflage in the woods. You really can't see it flying over even in the winter. It's so far off the round in the woods you'd never know it was there. I love that he wrapped his house in camo.

You should listen to Sheryl's songs "Strong Enough" and "Run Baby Run".

Yes, Kid & Sheryl dated briefly. In the 90s, during my late 20s, Lenny Kravitz was my King Of Music, and Sheryl was my Queen! I know her songs inside and out, and love her to death. I see Strong Enough mentioned a lot here, and I agree that's a great one, but a deeper, even more heart-wrenching selection, imho, would be "The Difficult Kind" from the album, "The Globe Sessions," where she shows more growth and much more emotion than her first album with the track mentioned first. "Always On Your Side," from the Wildflower album leaves me in tears every. Single. Time. She did a version which is a duet with Sting, but I enjoy the version of her performing it solo. I think Lex would like how her voice is all over the place in that one. God bless all!

Years later they made another song called "Collide." I remember them performing it live at an award show, I believe. Then they started dancing together in a spotlight towards the end, at which point, Sheryl reached down and squeezed Kid Rock's ass. Lol It was almost like a brief rekindled love moment, considering that they used to date around the time they recorded "Picture." I wish I could find that performance on KZread, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I never thought they just broken up three days earlier. I always took this song as one of those couples that always had drama in their relationship. Break up to make up (a great song by the Stylistics!) type of cycle. Also, he was in a band on the road and hadn't bothered to call her for three days. Because he was "busy" in his hotel room. His people covered for him when she called his hotel. ".... everyone knows but they won't tell..." She knows he's cheating so she does the same. They know "they" don't work together but something keeps them trying. Love? Or their perception of love.

I’ve alway assumed they were still together in the first part then there’s a small time jump were they have been broke up for a while now and run into each other.

One of my favourite (what I would consider) country songs. Neve really got into Kid Rock, but dude is TALENTED! he crosses so many genres. I've seen him work the turntables even, and while may not be a world class turntablist, he ain't bad. I kinda wish more people took notice of him back in the day, or that he showed this side of himself musically. Obviously Sheryl Crow is no slouch either with a slew of hits and an amazing voice.

I cry to this song at least once a week and I'm not even in love with anybody, it just hits you right where it needs to.
