Kicker PT250 Installation Aftermarket Stereo RCA

Ойындар

This is to help anybody trying to connect this subwoofer/amp combo to an RCA hook up on an aftermarket deck due to this product being designed mainly for stock decks.
I went through a significant amount of rage trying to install this before I figured it out, so I hope this helps someone. The other "installation" videos of this on KZread are absolutely AWFUL/unhelpful. I know this one isn't much better, (lighting/camera angle is awful, I'm sorry!) but hopefully this points you in the right direction at least. If you have any questions at all, please leave it in the comments and I will answer as soon as I can.
Don't forget to switch the 2nd switch to 'Low'! The first switch is the 12+ or DC and the third switch is Phase: 0 or 180. It's the switch between those two and has to be on 'Low' if you are using RCA connections.
I'm sorry for not being able to show the exact way the wires connected to the RCA/wire adapters, but it's super simple: Coming out of the Subwoofer wiring there is going to be a pair of white wires and a pair of grey wires, those are your speaker wires (positive and negative, negative has black stripe) You just attach each of those to the wiring on the end of the RCA adapter, white positive/negative to one of the adapters, grey positive/negative to the other adapter. I am hoping that if you are doing this install yourself you are atleast somewhat familiar with how wiring goes..here's a short video that shows it a little better:

On the back of your deck, did you use a Y (where you join both RCA's into 1 output)?? I tried this method, and hooked up to my RCA amp outs, in back of deck, Nothing!? Thanks!

No, the back of my deck has both red and white RCA input spots. What brand/model is your deck?

@@jamesb1988 Hey thanks for the video! I installed an aftermarket BOSS radio. I figured out which ones the RCA outputs were. It's also a navigation system, with camera capability, so the RCA output for amp was a little harder to figure out. Also, I figured out that, the Kicker powered subwoofer has to be set to 12V, 0 and gain almost all the way up, or it feels like it's Not on! Thanks again for vid!

@@toanigamboa4483 The switch below the 12v switch, is that on high or low? It needs to be on low for RCA, what you're describing sounds like its on high..

@@toanigamboa4483 hmm... if you feel like it take a picture of your set up and email it to me at higgins8891@outlook.com and I'll see if I can figure out what's the issue. Cause my gain is only up a quarter of the way and it's bumping, so it seems like there might be an issue somewhere..

Hey, I had a dual combo amp and subwoofer and I just plugged the wire harness into the kicker pt250 and I’m not getting the power light to turn on at all. Any advice?

Gotta say, not very impressive on Kicker's part to include an input selection switch, but no low level inputs with it's cabling.

No kidding :/ more often than not I would guess that if somebody is adding a sub to their deck they either have a deck in a car new enough that utilizes RCA ports or an older car with an after market deck that does.

Seriously, though, thank you. I clipped some rca input cables and crimped them into the high level input wiring.

Because I'm trying to splice my blue rca cables to the speaker wire but my rca cables have a white and black wire on one and a blue and white on the other and I'm wondering if you know which is positive and negative on both those..I'm assuming the white is positive on both but idk

This thing will hook up to RCA, but you need a RCA converter like he used in his video. Kicker sells one (KISL) or your local audio store or Amazon (link on this video). Then plug in to back of head unit, to RCA output (also called pre-amp output). Your guna need RCA cables! (to reach RCA input/off your powered sub to>> back of head unit RCA output). Set powered sub to 12V, 0 and turn gain up atleast 80%, give it a few seconds and it'll start thumping! Good Luck!

You're ridiculous that thing turns on when it picks up signal from the speaker wires that you tap into
