KICKDOWN | National Express West Midlands Volvo B7TL/Wright Gemini 1, 4475 (BJ03 EWF) | Route 72

Formerly a Perry Barr motor. 4475 happens to be the first ever Gemini National Express bought
4475 isn’t the nicest BJ03 I’ve ever done, it squeaks so loudly and isn’t the most tuneful, nowhere near as nice as 4485 but it’s not the worst either, and it’s surprisingly beefy for a Gemini B7TL!
To my surprise, this finished at Chelmsley Wood and ran dead to Acocks Green depot, only to come back out with a different driver! Why not finish at Solihull Station, it’s much nearer? Doesn’t make sense at all but I won’t complain since it no doubt helped me get a good run!
This was my first ride on 72. Safe to say I like the route, it should be good so long as the road is clear and your driver is willing to use kickdown! I’ve since done 72 again on 4667 (recently returned “home” from Coventry) in the other direction, so that’s something to keep your eyes peeled for 👀

I didn't film this, but I did re visit the next day and filmed quite a few! Yeah, I've been quiet on KZread because I've been filming out and about quite a lot.. to the point I have lots to catch up on!
Those squeaky poles seem pretty common in Geminis

With NX, I can only say I’ve properly noticed them on the BJ03s. The last time I saw that happen was LJ51 ex Arriva London VLWs at Aylesbury that were transferred from Wigston in Leicester and they were also around 20 years at the time so…

As I've said before I much rather the ALX400 body on a B7 however the retarder on this one sounds amazing!

Yes as a driver somehow the Dennis alx is way nicer Weird since it's just the shell that different same engine and chassis

I’m indifferent to this particular B7. I’m much more annoyed about the HW52 President ones in Salisbury being recently withdrawn, those were great!
