This is all things that boxing does too

I know this short is targeted towards people dying for aesthetics, but IMHO the main benefit of kickboxing is hip strength and flexibility of the lower body. This is something extremely difficult to learn/rectify the older you get
been training for 5 years and i didnt notice until now
Id say you can get a pretty strong and functional lower back kicking all the time

i was informed i had a naturally disadvantaged build for kickboxing. my legs, arms, and subsequent reach are pretty much evenly proportionate with my height, however my thighs and calves have been bulked to the max from all the rugby, and basketball i played as a kid. my back, traps and shoulders are disproportionately large compared to my chest and core muscles, and although i find i can generate a lot of power from almost all angles i test, i do find it incredibly difficult to work on speed and consistency because my hips and torso just don't have enough strength to move my legs in a smooth, technical, and quick fashion. i find myself resorting to simple, effective combinations that i can defend and counter from as well. but i would really love to learn spin kicks, jumping kicks, flying knees etc. love my basics but am struggling to work on the muslces needed for the higher tier kickboxing/muay thai/TKD combinations. any help?
I think mostly 6 packs depend on genetics but you can definitely get a strong core

@@ahmaddeham_ not sure if you read correctly, everyone has abs correct. But Not everyone has a six pack because your genes determine how much bands of connection tissue you have in ur abs . nothing like kickboxing and Thai boxing for getting in shape, hard rounds on the pads and bag
Spot on! Ive seen the most improvements in all these he mentions but also my Lats blew up alot
I developed a similar build as a long time BMX freestyler but that being said I love kickboxing and Gabs videos.
Thank you, I so value your advice.

I started kickboxing and I'm sore in those exact areas 😂 plus the bottom of my feet and my calves... I can barely walk haha and I do pilates, weights and streghtening exercises before kickboxing 😅
For Real
I do not think kickboxing is best for somebody that only cares about how their physique looks, but it definitely does not hurt. It definitely helps to keep you lean.
I didn't think about it helping my back, thanks 🙏
I'm starting kickboxing very soon as a big person. I would love to look even 1% like this
I can sooooo relate to that sixpack thing👌👌 That's so true to me, because it happened to me🤩🤩 Hope I can keep this going! I love kickboxing, but I don't like to do abs while working out😂
Where are these shoulders you speak of?
Wow I got all of these to the max the last 12 years of training payed off
Appreciate all the insight. 🙏
this is true bro i feel it my self
Been doing Muay Thai for 12 years…have huge shoulders and huge calves…no abs and a very weak back 😂
Kickbox is more dangerous then mma. Its a freefight wdout grappling and its a straight standup combat. Kickboxing is all about trading blows staright away.
Balance and Coordination is a plus also
What I like about it versus boxing it’s more complete physically. But one must absolutely train both sides of not they end up like me: screwed up on one side
I’m 40 this year. Don’t do kickboxing but done many other styles over the years. I get my physique from body building but I get what you mean with the sport. The more you move the more you burn, you get a pretty good lean muscle mass from the cal burn. Keep up the good work. And fyi to the dude in the comments you don’t have to be young to get shredded or build muscles. If that’s something you want to achieve then go for it lad! You can do it absolutely no bother 😃

At a certian level its all about frames. You can eat your way up to heavyweight but if you are a middle weight frame its pretty much selecting survival difficulty. Its more so about bones than muscle, which is why most guys do the exact opposite, they get as skinny as they can to have reach advantage per their weight class. Like tommy hearns making 145lbs and being a tall skeletal figure, sure he couldve been more muscular and fought at 175 but he was so OP at 145 cause his frame was just huge. Only a rare few have gained weight above their natural class such as holyfield who came up with muscle, james toney who just ate his way up, and even roy jones jr who only did it for one fight
Totally agree ....im a kickboxer too and im looking better than ever

Don't forget the legs from all those burpees and kicks!
@THEWEIRDOGOTHVAMPYREWITCH
2 ай бұрын
My teacher does not have me doing burpees due to the fact I have extremely weak lungs and sustained a permanent sternum bone breakage that can not be fixed by surgery
And yes it is a recognizable physique like a gymnast's physique is.
From my experience, striking sports in general make you extremely skinny but ripped and a lot stronger than they look. The endurance needed to fight really eats away a lot of muscle and fat. They look like skin, small defined muscles, and bones. So you'll see guys shrink and have small tight defined muscles, which is perfect, because I've noticed that the skinnier the guy gets the more UNGODLY the speed/reflexes they have and they can keep that speed throughout a long fight. What people don't talk about is just how tight and hard those little muscles are, and how disproportionately strong they are compared to their size. Those small super defined muscles all over their bodies are hard as a rock, and they are MUCH MUCH stronger than they look. As far as which muscles are the strongest and most pronounced on an elite striker are all the core muscles, the front and rear delts, and the lats. Which makes perfect sense as the core is where power is generated, the delts for extending and retracting the arms, and the lats to anchor the delts to the core. You'll generally see strikers with stick figure legs, small arms, skinny but muscular traps/necks, super defined abs, thick delts, and thick lats. The limbs staying small/lacking mass(but rock hard) and the core being super strong gives them ungodly speed in their arms and the ability to almost "whip" their strikes due to the difference in mass. The lats anchor the core to the delts and transfer the most power to the delts. The huge delts are like super strong springs. So, an ideal striker in my mind is tall, lanky, super skinny small legs, skinny small defined arms, defined but not thick traps/neck, super defined abs, protruding delts, and disproportionately huge thick lats. The number one tell tale sign for an elite striker in my mind is when you can actually notice the rear delts and lats popping out of their back. That's a red flag for knock out power to me. Even in kickboxing, the legs are a little bit thicker, but still skinny, small, well defined, and rock hard for the same "whip" reason I explained above for the arms. Wrestlers on the contrary tend to be just a little bit shorter but thicker everywhere. Their backs, lats, core, traps, glutes, and quads are a LOT thicker than strikers which gives them ungodly strength compared to speed. Their arms don't necessarily have to be huge because wrestlers power also comes from their core. All their muscles are rock hard as well, but they actually look like they should be rock hard. A tell tale sign of an elite wrestler to me are HUGE traps, and super WIDE lats. Which makes sense because wrestlers use a lot of strong pulling movements in different directions in the neck area. So, strong traps help defend their posture and anchor to their lats which are super strong pulling muscles that can generate a lot of power in different directions. These are my opinions.
