160 km/h speedo reminds old Lada car. In Lithuania only incentives for PHEVs are use of bus lanes and maybe free parking in some zones. Also PHEVs and electric vehicles get different license plates instead of XXX:000 they get EV0000.

Nice review. I'm changing from a 2015 Prius Plug-in to a Ceed SW PHEV. I searched for SW reviews, but most not in English. I got a -6k discount for top executive trim, closing at 34k. Lower in road taxes, and expensive petrol in the Netherlands, I think I made a good decision. 3 month wait is the only downside. Very excited.

Originally wrote off the phevs as i thought the ev range is rubbish but after careful consideration it might be better than a regular hev. By my calculation if the PHEV Business Line costs 140k PLN and 1.4 T-GDI with similar specs costs like 120k PLN after 3-4 years including gas cost it will be cheaper to buy PHEV in general. I assumed that I will drive around 80km each day, so in my case PHEV is more attractive.

This car is the best looking compact size car Kia makes. It is a shame they don't make a full EV version of this, in stead of the Niro and Soul. I am sure of they would have a true winner in their hands. Because Kia/Hyundai fully electric efficiency is today the only real competitor to Tesla. They just need to offer it in a more handsome car then they do today. No least in consideration of the price point. Her in Iceland a model 3 is cheaper then a 64km Niro or Soul. And when so. No one is buying those cars. But a full EV version of the Xceed could become a player against the model 3, if they could offer it with the 64kw battery.

Marek, I have the Niro hybrid. The hybrid is recharging based on driving style. My car rarely runs less than 40% electric and then various percentages up to 100% depending on weather and driving style. The PHEV simply adds higher battery capacity, so you are describing Toyota hybrid systems, not Kia when you say that once the plug-in charge has expired, it runs on petrol only. Batteries are more efficient in warmer drier weather - approx 10mpg difference on cold damp weather. My hybrid is even re-charging the battery when its running 100% EV thanks to various older Formula 1 specs

Vehicle looks good. In Belgium we dont pay taxes on Hybrid vehicles, which can be quite expensive depending on the vehicle. For example for a new BMW G20 330i you would normally pay 2500 +/- euro first tax and then 450 euro every year. So buying a 330e you save almost 3000 directly. Other than that no benefits, except you can enter areas in big city like Antwerp and Brussels in the emission free zones.

At least you get that. In Poland PHEVs and HEVs don't get any privileges. I think they recently lowered the excise on larger displacement engines, so Lexus hybrids are now cheaper :) Only EVs get bus lane access, which it turns out means very little. Today I had to drive across town to return the ZOE. There were only two bus lanes on my way, and there was no traffic in the area to take advantage of them anyway. I arrived 5 minutes before Anna, who was stuck in traffic on the ring road in a PHEV.

To give you an example, if I had a first gen PHEV Outlander I would burn petrol every day commuting to work in the winter. With my current PHEV that only happens 10-20 days a year as it allows for -10 deg C before the petrol engine is forced to start regardless of charge level. I am pro PHEV, but also live in Norway where this metric in particular has a great impact on the overall economical feasability of the different drivetrains.
