Kia has done a very good job especially over last few years. I think price-quality wise this vehicle is a very good value for your money

I recently had the opportunity to drive the standard 2021 Ceed for some trips - and it really won me over. Build quality, functionality, price, straightforward design - it ticked all my boxes. Right now I'm in the process of ordering the 2022 XCeed 1.5 - in my mind it surpasses the normal Ceed concerning exterior design and value for money. I also like the ride height, being a compromise between a SUV and a standard compact class car. As Thomas says: "Pretty much everything just feels right."

It feels to me that German autos have been the gold standard for a long time. I see the Koreans as the most interesting competition, although perceptions probably lag behind reality for some time. Great review.

I got mine a month ago, and I'm very happy with it. I did't get the highest setup, so I don't have the Bose sound system and I have the smaller touchscreen. But I have the 1.4T with Automatic transmission, also it's a dual clutch and I'm very happy with it. Definitely worth. Not to mention I get tons of compliments, with the Blue colour ;)

Excellent design 👍💯!

Beautiful car! Me and my family are waiting for our version to come (here in Romania), probably at the end of this month (the dealer guy said) from the factory in Slovakia. We order it in orange fusion, 16 inch wheels (for the better ride), brake discs front and rear, Michelin tires, digital cockpit, the optional navigation system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, USB, rear camera, heated leather steering wheel, heated front seats, cruise control, speed limiter, led lights and so on. It almost has every option I guess. Around 90-95% full spec..it is the trim underneath the best one which has all the full specs. The only option that my mom and her partner would have accepted extra just for me was the optional JBL stereo system because I'm a music maniac...but you had to go to the last trim level plus they charge you a lot because they add extra options that you don't want. We got a nice deal as well! The car normally was around 27.000€ but they've made us a deal so we got it for around 23.000€...leasing. It is a mild-hybrid version, 1.5 automatic transmission. :)) 😁

I like the design, I also went to the dealer for a price, and then... I went elsewhere. I owned the first Kia Procee'd, never had any problems but when I sold it I cried... because I practically had to give it away. Of course back then Kia's were cheaper, but that devaluation was terrible. Now I bought a BMW X1 (with options priced close to €40000) for €30900 (good price due to the Belgian Motor Show). The Kia would actually have cost me almost €1000 MORE (also with motor show prices). Not looking at the badge (I don't feel better because I own a BMW by all means) but that alone was enough to persuade me to pass on the Kia. If I sell the BMW in a couple of years, I would get thousands of euros more than for the Kia. One more thing, I have more of an SUV feeling in the BMW, the Kia felt more like a regular car to me.

Interesting!

I like design of this car very much. But is it worth buying? It does not have so much space as for example ceed wagon...

There is a new 1.5 T-GDI engine with 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque and it will replace the current 1.4 gradually in the next months (the FL of Hyundai i30 will get it first). So I think with the new engine, it will be the right compromise choice between power and economy.

Can you compare it to focus active?

I will take this over the CX-30.

Great if they do the Captur 2 as it will surely be a quality review. Until then you can check my chanel for some simple Captur 2 1.0 TCe 100 HP acceleration and POV driving videos.

In the UK they killed this car with the pricing. IF you want to have everything from the safety system list you have to go for a full spec (there is no options). And done.. for the same price you have Niro eHybrid, with better spec, better economy and even more comfort. So I guess you would buy the xCeed only if you want to have something better looking.

How many body shapes on this chassis do they really need? - Ceed - Ceed SW - XCeed - ProCeed and lest we not forget the US and KDM Kia Forte and Forte 5 (hatchback) and the Chinese market Kia K3. They're all the same size, roughly, and do about the same thing - a C-segment hatchback or sedan.

@@autogefuehl It would be nice to have a comparison between both. CX-30 has no multilink rear suspension or touch screen infotainment and currently no diesel with automatic clutch transmission, but has other good arguments.

I have an old Mazda 3, a fantastic hatchback, and I'm finally upgrading. Both CX-30 and Xceed are on my radar. I am now quite loyal to Mazda, but unfortunately CX-30 currently has no: PHEV or diesel wtth dual clutch transmission, Tactile infotainment, Multilink rear suspension. I drove a brand new A Class 180d with no multilink and it was quite uncomfortable. My old Mazda 3 has a good ride quality with a nice balance between comfort and sportiness. Xceed seems to have that balance. I drove several CX-3 and they are really nice cars but returning to my 3 multilink is allaws a pleasure I wouldn't like to miss. A comparison between Xceed and CX-30 would be quite useful.

Great that you made this review! Except that it would be more realistic to see some more basic trim, because for example differences between all three engines are noticable. I have it for 1 month, downsides are that you can not turn off to stay anoying lane assistant and it s pretty much thirsty when just driving in the city. (1,0 -120HP). Build quality is excellent , but sadly Kia/Hyundai just didn t come out with more economic gasoline engine yet.

A 7 year warranty is brilliant. Shame VW aren’t as confident in their products.

Hi Thomas I do like your reviews but I have noticed that car reviewers do not look at the seats or door sills which are quite wide on the X ceed which is very annoying as the backs of your legs touch the sill on getting out of the vehicle it's the only thing that put me off buying the X ceed.

I did mention it, only Porsche and BMW only offer CarPlay, other than then it always comes together. BMW will add it this year too

I think he does not talk about Android Auto for too long in many cars, because almost every car these days has it and they are all the same. But he does still talks about CarPlay and Android Auto in the review, thankfully. It is around 9:19 in this review.

@@k.thompson8549 That was long time ago, when they were presenting XCeed they said that they will, after some time update the digital instrument, to give it more options. Because this is their first generation of digital instrument, with limited functionality which they can improve.

Good car, well equipped but the front lights are very amateurish in design.

Does it have a Bayern Munich interior colour scheme?🤣

Daca mergi pe varianta GT(206CP) du-te la KIA.Altfel Mazda CX-30 este superioară la toate capitolele,inclusiv finisajele interioare.La ora actuala și la buzunarele noastre Mazda și Toyota au cea mai buna calitate a mașinilor la toate gamele.Atenție nu Honda!

Proprietarul lui KIA este Superconcertul Hyundai,iar Mazda este de sine stătătoare ca firma.Mazda folosește,design Kodo “Soul of Motion”.Performanța,dinamism și finisaj dus la perfectiune. Pasagerii și conducătorul mașinii călătoresc la clasa a 1-a ,cu mult loc la picioare,scaune confortabile ,navigație ,siguranța și informații de ultima ora. Chiar dacă Peter Schreier și Tom Kerns au încercat din răsputeri sa facă acest lucru nu prea au reușit in totalitate.(De altfel ei nu mai lucrează ptr. KIA.).Nu au ajuns la rafinamentul lui Mazda.Tinuta de drum.zgomot interior,finisaj și arhitectura.Apoi,consum de carburant și cost de întreținere ptr.minim 5ani.Materialele din interior sunt de o calitate,net inferioară comparata cu Mazda.Per total o influența prea mare de la. VW/AUDI(de unde proveneau cei doi “vrăjitori”). Cu mulți ani in urma KIA vindea mașini sub umbrela lui Mazda.

Thomas finding out how something works in the moment during a review is a good thing, because this is how most customers of a vehicle will do it when they first interact with it. Thomas is showing us whether it is easy to interact with the system the first time one gets in the vehicle or is it a pain. A more realistic approach. When you are at the dealership or at home after buying a vehicle, you will fumble with the system and find out how it works...eventually.
