Hope you enjoyed folks! Apologies for a small edit error: we forgot to add the lower third listing range. For this Dual motor car it’s quoted at 313 miles / 505km. Anyhoo - what do you make of the EV9?

I think they've nailed the brief. The R1S is probably its closest competitor, then the Model X.
@StartledPancake

Just a question, but why don you give us give a peak at the energy consumption during the test? It may not be particularly scientific in terms of comparison with other cars due to changing conditions etc but most current EV drivers can account for that due to experience. Its far more important info than the exterior walkaround for instance.

BIG boy Jack is so good at reviewing cars, LOVE watching him.
They've knocked this out of the park. Even the new Volvo EM90 won't be able to compete with this. Kia and Hyundai are really on top of their games now and market leaders in many ways. I have a 2021 Kona Electric and it's genuinely astoundingly good. I've even got a best of 314 miles from it and even in winter I've managed 301 miles.
@TheSteinbitt

I think the EX90 will be a massive hit. At about the same price, it looks more premium, nicer interior, better efficiency and sleeker. But I agree, for the family hauler, this might be your best bet.
Car didn’t look that big with Jack standing by it. But then I heard, at around 15 minutes in, he is about 6 foot 5 inches. That helps with perspective.
I canceled my preorder for the EV9. The UK dealer experience for Kia is absolutely diabolical both pre and post sale.
2.5 tonne towing capacity too! I know someone who claims they “Have” to drive a diesel pickup because they occasionally need to tow a two-tonne horsebox. Glad to see some vehicles capable of competing in that space starting to approach human-affordable prices (if not quite reaching them yet)

@@siviterit’s not a value for money thing, although I’m not convinced it is that brilliant when you think of the cost for the “essentials”. It’s more a case of a living with a car with just a “iPad”, very few buttons, no HUD and a below par boot. You’re paying for the brand more than a practical, safe vehicle. I really wanted to like it, and even put down a deposit after seeing it, but on watch all the driver reviews I have cooled considerably and we are likely to request the deposit back. Just disappointment following all the hype. Our present Kia E Niro has proved a revelation, but it is time to update, and the external design of the EX30 was very alluring and we thought we’d found the update, but internally the EX30 is far too Spartan and pared back. The Kia EV3 looks like it has what we want on paper and the spec of the EV9 shows us that Kia is moving forward with EV design, not just cutting costs under the disguise of supposed better internal design.

@@VenVile it doesn't have cramped back seats for that size of car, it's smaller than an MG 4! Hey Jack. Love your work 👍
It definitely fills a spot in the market and will only help increase sales, but what I'd be more excited about is an actual MPV to elevate the Carnival. Volvo EM90 will make room for it, and an honest roomy and functional 6-seater with all captain's chairs would really move the needle.

@markwellington1254
6 ай бұрын
I have had two different LEAF model years,2017 and 2019 all with ePedal- one pedal driving and I get what you are saying. Not necessary for me with that feature. I know someone with a Kia Niro EV that found out on slicker streets they had to adjust the regen to a lighter setting to keep from sliding on slick pavement. Jack' in the video used only the regen adjustments to go down a steep mountain grade to slow him down as needed for the changing grades and curves in the mountain road. More of a challenge really.@@MrAdopado
Great video! However, there are in fact other options in this size range. Here in Denmark I know that the Maxxus Euniq5 is available with 7 seats and the Hongqi E-HS9 has been available for a bit and just dropped significantly in price. I thought the XPeng G9 might be in a similar category but I just checked and it seems they don't (yet?) offer it with 7 seats. Personally I think these things are over the top and am more excited to see more about the upcoming EV5 which looks like a little brother to this ;)
My first european driving experience was in Madrid, the biggest peugeot they made rented for me by our sales rep who would join me days later. Handed over to me by the rental agency double parked in rush hour traffic. Totally sympathetic with big cars in spain inducing excessive expletives.
This was on my short list but the Rivian R1S was available much sooner so that's what we got!

@@vocalscpunk Yeah, I probably would have gotten a Model X several years ago IF you could put a roof rack on it, but the silly back doors essentially prevent it. I don't want a trailer to take a kayak along.
TBH, I had a difficult time focusing on the review because I was distracted by that excellent coat Jack was wearing. I want that coat! :D
When going downhill like down a mountain, i use the ACC (cruise control) to adjust regen, a lot simpler
What an aerodynamic beauty. The wayward child in the road will doubtless welcome that final kiss to their skull from the EV9 driven by a flustered mother immersed in on-screen transcendence. Welcome to the past. Thoughts and prayers.
I first played the "nerdy regen paddle game" a few years ago in the e-Niro when coming down from the Ardeche....about 30 minutes of descending, some very steep downhill and twisty bits but never needed to touch the brakes once. My 2019 e-Niro may look a bit 'old hat' now but with 92,000 km on the clock it been faultless so far.. setting up regen braking with paddles seems such a logical thing to do, not sure I could move now to an EV that didn't have it. This EV9 monster is way outside of what a retired couple like us need, not to mention way outside our budget but it looks to be a tour de force for Kia that will win a lot of new customers.
Great review! Was this the Iceberg Green color?
Excellent review with Jack in the Back finally getting all he could want in a SUV and he hates them 🙂.... As long as the residuals on this are good and the leasing cost is at the right level I will be replacing my current BMW iX with this right away .... iX is big and comfortable but no extra seats and a small, for its size, 500L boot ..... makes this a no brainer for my family with 3 Big teenage boys plus guest..... finally we can get to the airport with an EV with 5 suitcases and not be struggling ....
