For the busy station delays maybe on your final results just note both times, the original time and then a Time subtracting the delays. That will also help us gauge how bad congestion is getting over the coming years.

Hello Bjorn, Thank you for bringing so much tests and efforts to help us all chose the right EV. I have been driving a model s since 2015. At that time there were no choices but Tesla for relative long distance. In France where I leave, supercharger start to be installed near ionity and others. I see how much struggle non Tesla users have to get a charging session, like in this test. So my point is that if we want a realistic estimate of the time it takes to do 1000km I would suggest to had in your spreadsheet 2 extra columns one for total driving time (including session issues) and total minutes deducted. My car has free supercharger, so I even wonder why I should change it really...

Discharging and regenerative charging on the descent is not OK for a very cold battery. On some winter days we have -20 stC. The first part is a lot of descent. 500 m altitude difference. Which cars of this rank have battery preheating? Battery heating on demand?

Hey Björn, I think the EV6 and the IONIQ5 both have torque based sensors on the steering wheel. Therefore it is shaking a little bit in order to sense if you are holding the wheel. This seems like a bad implementation of the sensor, however if you put a slight amount of pressure on the steering wheel, the shaking will stop in my experience. Anyway thanks for the video!

Supposedly an update is coming for EV6 and Ioniq 5 that will allow this. Certainly Tesla and Taycan can preheat when navigating to a high power charger but I think BMW is doing it best by giving the option to manually preheat. Why they can’t all add that 🤷‍♂️. Even a 50kW is even slower if you battery is freezing and you didn’t have access to destination charging or a long drive to it.

Have you managed to track down the list of voice commands for the EV6? There are several posts on KZread, especially from EVOdessy filling in the blank sheet in the user manual for voice commands. I was wondering if you, with your Kia contacts have managed to track down the complete list. I currently own a Volvo V90 Inscription Pro, and the manual for that I would rate 9/10, but the EV6 manual .. hmmm!

Thought you were going to discount an additional 5 minutes for a charger you had to wait and another 20 minutes for an issue or something (forgot what, but if you go back and watch one of the first charges, Bjorn said he'd discount 20 or so minutes for something) oh, well. THis car is a nice road tripper. WHat I'd like to compare would be between the AWD & RWD GT-Line. Is it worth it to loose the 320 hp for the 225 on the RWD in order to get extra range?

  • @MihneaStoian
    @MihneaStoian2 жыл бұрын

On the I5 RWD I've noticed that for every 5C lower temperature you have to add about 1kW/100km in consumption mainly due to the heating, but probably also due to the lower battery capacity. The EV6 RWD seems to be about the same as the I5 RWD, which makes sense. Can't wait for the preheating update, will make taking trips in winter faster.

I've had similar problems with Recharge/Fortum. Seems to be some problem with the payment/card registration. Can't believe how little userfriendly the system is. You have the app, used it before and think everything is good to charge again. Then suddenly you get problems and must mess around with app, card, maby call the customer service and get no good information. All that time spent NOT charging, and then you (hopefully) can charge afterwards.. Would be really nice if the charger at least started charging. As a registrered customer, if there is something wrong with card-registration, that can be sorted out during charging, or many many days after as they know who is connecting to the charger.. I wouldn't have any problems calling customer-service as long as my car was charging, but to have to call to make it work, when the charger is not defective... *facepalm*

Shows you how important the user interface is in making your journey stressless. I guess I could do the mental calculations if I had to but it would annoy my wife. The charging process is almost seemless with the Tesla network. If using the other networks you often need their app on your phone or a linked RFID card for each network and that would be a pain. They should just implement a “tap and go” model. Cheers

@@rogerstarkey5390 More importantly, contactless payments have existed for *15 years* at this point. How fucking hard is it to just put a POS in every charger, just like self service fuel stations? It should just be made mandatory by law at this point, because it's clear the industry doesn't give a crap. Starting January 2023 either you have a credit card reader in your charger or you have to make it free, and if you're found with non-compliant chargers you get fined 100€ per charger per day. You'll see how quickly they fix this mess. Also asking every charger to accept cash is unreasonable, but you should be able to buy anonymous prepaid "charge cards" in a store if you don't want to be tracked all the time.

So if you need to done the same amount of work but in half the time, you would need 76 kW * 2 = 152 kW. Of course this theory.. ☺️ 26,1 /100 = 0,261 kwh/km. And 0,261 * 256,6 km = 67,97 kWh.

Windchill effect at 120 km/h, 33/ms at 3 C is around -11 C. No wonder why battery temp falls. But the BMW iX and Teslas do so much better, so a huge omittance by Kia at the moment. Good to hear them fix it.

Not sure this is a none tesla problem, more to do with bad chargers. Ive never had a charger fail with a credit card, but then again card payment are mandatory for all UK rapid chargers, something europe is yet to catch up on. No more crappy apps.

EV-charging station system with apps, sms and scanning codes etc... This exactly why I just bought a tesla model y. In 5-6 years, I will reconsider for my next car, but as for right now in Norway, the network for EV chargers, and the state of them (read: some are always broken), makes owning a non-tesla a horrible experience. The typical experience: You arrive to a place to charge: There are 2 EV chargers, and 20 Tesla chargers. There is a huge queue for the the EV-chargers, and one of them is surely out of service, and only 3-4 people charging their Teslas while enjoying life.

I agree, the full ev experience is based too on supercharger time. Now that the Tesla SC are opening to other cars this will change maybe. Bit I see so many folks struggling to get their charging sessions on I wander why they don't chose Tesla even if I have loads of complaints on my 2015 modem s. I do enjoy the free SC for life. Even Electricity charges are going up.

Deducting time for having to wait for a free charger is not reflecting what we would see in the real world. These issues with broken chargers, apps not working should be included. I have just taken delivery of my Ioniq5 and am looking forward to seeing how the charging system is in the UK. You really need to show the total time, problems included, to be representative.

But then it would not help compare the cars. The issues with chargers are not specific to KIA, are related with external out of control factors that depend on the time of day, location, etc.

Bjorn i hope you see this but seriously do a test similar to this with regen OFF. It may sound counter intuitive but on the motorway the regen compounds to the drag that is already present. Of course when you use the brakes you will get regen. These cars coast forever.
