This video is not too long. If someone is seriously considering buying an EV6 from their shortlist then this "concluding" video, on the back of the other ones on this car, really helps solidify all the complexities into a comprehensive summary. You are the best car reviewer Bjørn of ALL the English language EV reviewers (or French which I also watch), in my opinion, so "two thumbs up" for you! 🙂 Not only are you the best EV car reviewer in the English language (and I LOVE all your little German phrases but that might be lost on some viewers) but also by some distance. Just keep going as you are. I've watched videos about cars I'm not even interested in because it's just fun to watch your videos. I also enjoy Kyle's Out of Spec channel and Kris Rifa (because I'm becoming very attached to Norway now, haha, even though I've never been there!). Regards from Wales.

These are my favorite of your videos, when you start silent with the car and then give the full overview. Not too long at all, getting nearly all of the info in one final review video is nice. Thanks!

The EV6 is definitely my favorit. It has some goodies that other cars dont't have. F.I. a 230V AC power supply, powerful V2load for pulling energy to a caravan. 800V fast charging, sunroof if wanted and a very good sound system. Cold gateing, the lane assist and menu issues shoul be fixed with software update. Then the EV6 is nearly perfect. Consumption for that power could be better, but with that fast charging and range its more than OK. My favorit colors are marine blue and green. Hopefully you have the opportunity to get your hands on the MG Marvel R soon.

You asked our feedback on video length: when it is a very good car I always appreciate details or caveats such as the headlights not pre-checked for proper alignment as many confirmed they all are left on purpose too low as coming out from plant. The dealers should then add this to their check-up preparation list for the customer.

You are awesome Bjørn, so much information in one video is just incredible. People who are interested in this car will find every bit of information needed to put the car on the short list (or not). To this EV6, I fell in love with the design, the sound system, the interior and what not (yeah menu of the main screen….) Still have to wait another 2 weeks.

A great summary and a great set of tests on this car Bjørn, especially the banan box test, that is just the best indication of true practicality. No, this video is not too long and covers a lot of basic but important features, especially if you drive in Northern Europe's weather systems. I drove an RWD version and agree with you completely on the ride and handling, I am used to a fairly firm car but I also like to be comfortable on long drives which makes you less tired and needing fewer stops. I also experienced the steering micro-adjustments in lane following mode but soon got used to it and found the corrections less intrusive than a Mach-e I drove. Looks and the HUD were major factors but the fast charging is what really sold me on this car. When I do long distance, I can't afford to waste any time. A big thank you for sussing the HVAC role in charging, maybe they will have solved this by the time my EV6 arrives next March/April but I'd be happy just to turn off the the HVAC for 10 mins at the start of charging, I know it's simple but you could maybe show how to turn off the HVAC in a future report for those of us who don't have the car in our hands.

I don't feel the videos are too long. We watch because you give a thorough and honest review which then helps us know the car better. Cutting short for the sake of shortening the time would be a loss. You give the information needed, and depending on the car and its pros and cons, it requires the time necessary to cover everything. And besides that, you are fun!

  • @WiegerBonwonderfulwb

Thanks for this long video! Don't cut it :-). In October I was able to do short test drives in the Ioniq 5 and the EV6. My experience was that the outside of the KIA EV6 was not as ugly as I thought and the drive is much more fun and feels more like driving a car than an Ioniq 5. In the Ioniq 5 my right knee was always bumping into the gear selector (I am a tall Dutch), the EV6 does not have that problem. I did enjoy your 40 minutes reflection on the driving impression, you did not repeat yourself and all the information was very good to know. If you want to make this video shorter I would like to see separate infotainment/navigation system videos.

I have always assumed that the jiggle in the steering wheel while the Lane Follow Assist is engaged is Kia's method of determining if the driver is holding the steering wheel. I have no proof of this so I could be wrong. Either way, it has never annoyed me (probably because in my mind it has a purpose). I have previously owned the Kia Niro PHEV (my gateway EV) and I currently drive a Kia e-Soul 64kWh. I am also awaiting delivery of a white RWD EV6 GT-Line in January so this video was of great interest to me. Thank you!

I'm debating on the EV6 or Tesla Model 3. I'm tilting on towards EV6 since it likely be quite cheaper than the Tesla with the specs I prefer and this is before the EV credit. Although I probably will wait to purchase a new vehicle by the end of 2022 or early 2023.

Better than Tesla. I traded in my 2021 M3 dual motor for the EV6 GT line. More features, much smoother ride, more quiet and superior build quality.. 7500 rebate. Changes lanes on highway standard with less prompts, pop out door handles, moonroof, cooled seats, vehicle to load .. power outlet in back seat, reclining rear seats and faster charging. Much better looking car as well.

One more interesting thing you could try to review is difference in tyre sizes. For example, tesla model 3, going from stock size to 245/45 or even 255/45, what is difference in consumption, noise and comfort ( plus speedo of course). I bet you could try to find viewers/patrons with different tyre setups in norway to compare or even collab with Megahjul or Marcus

Sounds to me like the ideal Korean EV is a mix of the IONIQ 5’s moveable center console, taller roofline and (to my taste) general better looks outside, with the EV6’s better suspension, sunroof that opens, general dash layout and rear window setup. Doesn’t look like the Genesis GV60 will fit this ideal either. Spending so much money and knowing that it will be a compromise is a head scratcher for me.

@@chunkychuck You can always get out of the car and remote park using the key fob :-). As for the original post by @F Trudeau, I think the only thing I would take from the IONIQ 5 is actually the larger fixed panoramic sunroof as it would brighten up the interior (especially for rear passengers). I don't think an open sunroof is beneficial for an EV as it would be aerodynamically inefficient. Running the HVAC would probably be much more efficient by comparison.

Great review. With each video I can't wait to test drive the EV6 here in U.S. Has Kia made any statement about over the air updates to fix the minor/moderate software/performance issues you mentioned? I believe Ford has already made a commitment to provide OTA updates to compete with Tesla. It would be a shame if Kia didn't provide this and owners were required to either live with the software/performance quirks or schedule service appointments just to do what might be a 5-10 minute software update. Also, I've yet to see in other EV6 reviews but if someone were to use Apple Maps or Google Maps as the preferred navigation does any of that info appear in the heads up display or is it strictly limited to the Kia software only?

Or will I have to keep using Apple Car Play with ABRP ? Looking forward to your answer :)

Hi Björn, thanks again. Your work ethos is insane. Highly appreciate it. Hope you can find the right balance in a couple of months🙂 Did you do anything with HVAC settings? Mine is so inconsistent. Warm, way to warm, then instant cold. Dealer said it could be the auto defog which turns on a/c ‘unwanted’. Did you do anything with settings? Or experienced it at all?

Trying to decide between this and Mach e but EV6 isn't in the US for me to test out yet. Hardware wise this is probably a clear winner but I think the Mach e has a better interior design, though EV6 has ventilated seats and HVAC controls that aren't in the screen, it's infotainment UI seems horrible compared to Mach e and Mach e also has more storage and a useful front trunk. I don't plan to road trip very often but EV6 would still be half the charging time when I did.

As for the lenght of the video. You could make a table of contents with links as I have seen others on youtube do, so that it is easy to find information of interest.

Great informative review. I think the Koreans are going to be one of the heavy hitters in the EV market judging by how good their early generation EVs are. For me, I'd take this over a model 3 any day of the week just based on looks alone. This is so much better looking IMHO.

Hi, I had exact the same experience with the headlights. Sometimes I even see the blue icon for the high beam still on, although I see that the high beam was off when a car comes on the apposite direction. On other instances I see the blue high beam icon turning on and off automatically. I'm not sure yet how it works or what it means, or if it's just a delay. But it kind of explains why sometimes the other drivers do not blink... I think the high beam is off, although we are not sure from inside the car. Also, the rattling sound behind. It's the seat belts not in the correct position. I had exactly the same experience.

Just turn on the seat warmers, turn off the cabin heater while you charge. Will that work?

I don't get how software preheating could fix coldgating. Wouldn't it create rapidgate then if you start with higher Temperature?

Does the GT not have harder suspension than the regular model? That would be reasonable because it should be sportier.

I think it is fair not to really say one car is better than the other. In the EV6/Ioniq 5/Model Y there are arguments for choosing each one. EV6 arguably better steering and efficiency. Ioniq 5 has the moveable backseats (huge for family car stuff). The model Y has longer range + charging network. Not really sure the ID.4 really is in the race here (but maybe). My main problem is that it really feels like I have to make (pretty big) sacrifices for choosing an EV compared to a slightly used Skoda Octavia/Superb (which probably costs less and has more room as a family car). Maybe the Nio ES8, but then again its probably gonna be twice the price.

You do get to sacrifice the burning of fossil fuels when you choose EV. Depending of course on how your electricity is generated.

Any EV with adequate charging available is far better choice then any ICE car / it is just much nicer total experience- worth it -also it pays for self in consumption but ales a while

@@jamesellis4899 Yea for sure, at least for most peoples driving demand. Another putting me off buying one right now is the waiting time. For a EV6/Ioniq 5 delivery time is 8 months here in Denmark, so there might actually come new models more suited for my need before I actually get a new car (to be fair it is the chip shortage which hits almost all manufacturers except Tesla and Polestar?)

Between E-GMP cars, (Genesis GV60, Kia EV6, and Hyundai IONIQ 5), you can pretty much choose what you like. I think EV6 may be a better long range car due to its aero, IONIQ 5 is the larger car and has more cargo room, and the GV60 is the more luxurious car, but really, they're all very close, so you will not go wrong on choosing which look you like. I tend to prefer the EV6, and for the Range, the RWD seems amazing (THough I think its because I'm looking at GT-Line with 20" tires AWD, but will the loss of 95 hp really get a huge range benefit? I'd like to see that. I"m an EV6 (GT-Line) myself. DOn't care for GT seats.

Wondering how it compared to modely in terms of suspension and road noise! I love software and integration in my model y but build quality sucks. Never mind I found my answer at 15:00
