Khusha naseeb dayar-e-Hussain dekh liya - Syed Aal-e-Raza (1974)
Syed Aal-e-Raza reciting a marsiya he wrote in 1950 following his first trip to Karbala. Aal-e-Raza was born on June 10, 1896 in Nyotini (Unnao), and he passed away on March 1, 1978 in Karachi. He was a lawyer by profession but is hailed as one of the greatest poets of the modern marsiya, and furthermore most fondly remembered for his nazm recited by Nasir Jahan: Salam-e-Aakhir. In future recordings, it will be seen that Aal-e-Raza had a unique way with words.

Wasalam, unfortunately only an audio recording was prepared. There is a video collection which I have yet to collect. It’s possible my taya may have recorded a rerun of it when the VCR hit the market, but it will take some time to confirm.
