On December 12, 2023, Together with our supporters, we achieved another milestone - successfully rescuing our second #elephant, marking a significant step in our commitment to elephant welfare.‍‍This rescue mission kickstarted on November 3rd, with unwavering support from our dedicated community and Somboon Legacy Foundation; we raised $28,286 USD for Kham Phaeng's freedom. Enduring challenges and the loss of #Kanoon, we pressed on to unchain #KhamPhaeng from dire conditions at an #elephanttrekking camp in #Pattaya. In just 32 days, a collective effort made this #elephantrescue possible, defying the odds.
Kham Phaeng, found chained both front and back legs, emaciated, almost toothless, and struggling with feet issues, became a poignant symbol of the plight faced by elephants in #exploitative environments.
Today, Kham Phaeng is not only free from the cruel bonds of chaining, starvation, and health issues but is also adjusting to her newfound life of freedom at Somboon Legacy Foundation, an #ethical #elephantsanctuary in Kanchanaburi. This #inspiringstory stands as a testament to the power of collective action and compassion in creating a brighter future for these majestic beings.
