To be entirely fair here, that's also Luke's game. His speciality is being weird with inverted triangles and footlocks, as Marcus Buchecha said when he said he had the best groundgame of all mma athletes. Luke isn't out there fighting for top position.

@@Phcx-_- yep lol , everyone that’s 185 and up that’s trained with khabib have all stated the same facts, they have never had a 155er or welterweight give them problems and compete heavily like khabib. Luke Rockhold, Caine, DC, opponents he beat like Michael, Dustin, Justin and Edson all said, this man can take you into a whole different level when it comes to wrestling and it’s not just his skills, it’s his weight pressure he puts on you, even when he first fought in 2012 and he was tiny he had that same strategy from his experience in Sambo. Yes he can absolutely compete at 170, I just don’t think he’d go through them easily like he did at 155.. he’s small compared .

@@roiplist right. People take training so seriously. Maybe he should’ve been at welterweight from the start. I remember some of his weight cutting vids and the man looked about dead and missed weight a ton. Wish he moved up and truly tested himself against grappling elites.

Khabib most likely could’ve been double champ (lightweight and welterweight) with relative ease

Khabib is significantly smaller here than he was later in his career. Actually looks like a lightweight here. By the time he was champ, he got massive between fights. The Khabib of today could probably outgrapple Rockhold.

I agree, at the end of the Eagles career he was almost 200lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if he got more in muscle mass and weight in retirement.

To be fair wrestling is a lot more than arm strength

If he moved up to welterweight I think he would do almost as good. Even if usman or colby got him on his back he has an arsenal of submissions as we saw in the gaethje fight. If khabib didnt retire early he could have been double champ IMO.

@@itunes8442 At like 4 mins Luke has the arm in guillotine, Khabib rolls to get out but Luke keeps with him, it's hard to see the hand but right before the timer goes Luke let's go and starts to get up and they shake hands after. There's also a bit at like 2:20 where Luke gets the takedown but before they hit the mat the video cuts.
