Unfortunately, it went bad for Conor, but I still respect him, his skills top class. I love Irish people, they are humble and dynamic. One time, I met an Irish guy in college, with dark blond and long hair, and from his outer appearances appeared to me one of these racist gays. I had to team up with the nearest person to do a lab. The fact that Conor got the title shot is understandable from the perspective of the UFC and Eddie Alvarez. He obviously had the skill to get the shot. But for the sport it sucks if someone who didn't perform in the division at that level before gets the chance to fight for a title. Could you imagine the UEFA saying "who cares who qualified for the final? Real Madrid vs. Barcelona sells the most tickets so they will compete for the CL title." That would be ridiculous.

Future Design I get that. But the it's still mostly about the promotion. Dominick Cruz wouldn't immediately get a shot against Conor at 145 if he wanted to. Woodley couldn't just fight Bisping for the 185 belt if he asked for it. Not if there is legitimate competition for the belt.

razvan catalin Cruz has called out Conor multiple times but Conor is busy making money. Mighty Mouse got that shot against Cruz when they were both dominating their divisions with no real competition. The UFC doesn't have a rule for that occasion so they just go with what they find the most profitable. Understandable. But lately top contenders like Khabib, Aldo, Ferguson, Jacare, Mousasi or Wonderboy have been ducked the fuck out of because champions and the UFC have been waiting for big names to sell the title-fights. So i understand that they are pissed.
