I met Bob Glidden while we were waiting for the gates to open. And then met Bill Grumpy Jenkins while I was standing just behind the burnout box. They were doing an exhibition race. Gliddens Pinto against Grumpys Monza. I was right behind them when both cars launched. Glidden won. I looked to my left and there stood a short bearded older man. His fire suit jacket read “grumpy” on it. I then asked why he wasn’t driving. And he was sooo nice when he told a 10 year old boy that he just wasn’t feeling well. And wished for me to have a good night as he turned and walked away.
