KEYSCAPE VS ADDICTIVE KEYS - Grand Piano Comparison and Review
Comparing the studio grand sounds from Spectrasonics' Keyscape and XLN Audio's Addictive Keys. Both fantastic products but I think I have a favorite.

I apologize for the microphone quality, it's really distorted, I wasn't able to monitor my voice live and I didn't realize I was recording the signal improperly. Thank you for understanding.

thanks for the review. I just got addictive keys and its very good. i think the dynamic range is awesome. I have this software Kawai VPC velocity editor, which works in conjunction with VST's, it allows you to customize your dynamic range for your playing style. Might be worth a look.
Keyscape sounds better to my ears. Good job with the comparison.
I'm not a pianist but keyscape sounds more natural for me. Thx for the review.
Already used Addictive Keys for me was always the best, I tested Keyscape and really is very good, but I still prefer AK for several factors and one of them is the Yamaha Upright, exceptional sonority.
I was a bit late to this video but i am just choosing between Keyscape & AK now and it was a really useful A/B test. Thanks Buddy
With good composition and mixing. These two don't matter anymore, it'll work well with any projects. Just that Keyscape triggered my option anxiety.
Great video! Keyscape pays more attention to details (pedal etc.) but at a high cost of the price, hardware resources, and stability. Addictive Keys is more stable, quicker and less resource hungry.
thanks for comparison video. What is your opinion about Garriton CFX Concert Grand ? Did you get a chance to try it? I've always had kinda mixing feeling about Addictive products (Keys, Drums, etc). I like the interface and endless tweaking options but never been satisfied with final result. The Keyscape though sounds good out of the box. I don''t know, maybe it's just me...
What did you do to keyscape to be able to reproduce such velocity? Also to additive keys? Did you edited it? Thanks.
Thanks. Great video!
Thanks for the comparison. I'm in the market for a piano VST. One suggestion about this video, I'd bring your voice down a little in the mix. In order to hear the music parts comfortably I need to have your voice at a somewhat uncomfortable level.
Keyscape sounds very warm and natural.... nice review, have you tried Ravenscroft 275?
Free version of Addictive Keys is all I need. I use the Aged Strings setting.
I did a blind test and imo Addictive Keys sounds better. It handles velocity very nicely and doesn't sound so exaggerated
I just got AK and it blew my mind how I can almost feel the hammers bouncing off the strings. I'm playing on a Novation Impulse 61
Nice one! And nice to see someone use Reaper :)
wow thanks. Have been struggling with that "jarring velocity" sound in addictive keys. Will try Keyscape!
I don't know much about piano recording or software so if you could explain something to me, that'd be great!
I appreciate your loyalty to both products, but for me there is only one stand out winner. That is Keyscape. It sounds like a natural Piano to my ears, and the only thing that could beat it is a REAL Grand Piano.
I was wondering if Addictive Keys is worth to buy since I am between AK and Keyscape at the momment. After watching your video I'd go with Keyscape if I just wanted the best sounding acoustic piano, i guess. lol... Problem is that I have a real Yamaha U3 here on my home studio and that AK Modern Upright is made with that piano. Plus I am investing on mics to record my acoustic piano here and AK has that mic setting simulation that is just awesome. I'll need to buy both of them. First I'll go with AK and then Keyscape. Thanks for this video helped me a lot.
