Neri noted that the fireplace emerged out of a vulnerability, and I recalled Feb 2021 when Texas froze for 2 weeks without power. I was stepping across vast ice when a dog skidded and jumped on me, and I hugged shivering fur until its person arrived. As they turned to walk away, the dog's eyes met mine and seemed to say, "Wtf ever happened to fireplaces?" then they slid across vast ice, under the snowy sky.

Love, flaws, vulnerabilities, patience, paying attention to small details that seem insignificant, Ego, loyalty, and deep soul connections are essential for strong connections that go beyond superficial appearances and social norms. Being genuine and not presenting yourself as something that you are not, just for the fact of being accepted or recognized in a certain group or organization is something that today's society has forgotten. Everything revolves around the latest trend or title or educational degree. Spirituality also plays a role in fostering mutual understanding and acceptance. There must be balance and harmony. For me the Ego is what keeps us in check. Accepting who you really are and appreciating these qualities and many others that are often mislabeled as a "bad thing" can lead to more genuine, fulfilling, and long-lasting relationship.

I think the most important is emotional maturity, emotional, intellectual, sexual connections & common goals. Marriage and family require responsibility, sacrifices & commitment. Relationships have been overly romanticised & as a result people have too high expectations of bliss & happiness. It is a fulfilling, meaningful life that can be an enormous impuls for growth. Not fairytale fantasy.

facepalm- I have never respected the guys in my life more than when they were willing to share something that was burdening them because they knew I was there for them. A man trusting you enough to be vulnerable around you and confiding in you as a partner is the best gift of all. It does not mean you are not capable of regulating your own emotions, It means you know you have a partner you can rely on when the pressure is too high and that is ideal to me, as well as to plenty of good women I know.
