This blessed my whole life. Church people in my life growing up HATED Kirk Franklin because he was “too secular”. Never once did ANYONE in my church stop to understand the fact that he was battling a LOT of inner pain and turmoil. I broke free of that life long ago and learned Jesus for myself so hearing this really meant a lot to me ❤️

Same. I never understood the hatred. I knew church folks who banned his music because he openly admitted to struggling with porn. Just ridiculous. He was honest at a time when "good" church goers weren't. I'm so happy we've grown as a collective church since those times. We all struggle in some way. But you said the key thing, it's about knowing the Lord for yourself👍

2 minutes in and I totally remember the ghost boy story. I read Kirks book Church Boy when I was about 14, and it was such a good book! Kirk is literally a legend especially to us millennial church kids. Knowing his story definitely made the music hit deeper. I grew up in the church singing and dancing to his music and now as an adult even when I go out they play some kirk for the culture. It’s amazing to see!

Pastor Evans really is the GOAT! I loved that Kirk mentioned that he has lived in the same house for over 40 years. That’s what made me decide to attend his church many years ago. I was impressed by the fact that he chose to not do something that he absolutely could have done quite easily.

Pastor Evans sermons speaks to me in EVERY SEASON of my life. I have a playlist of Sermons to bridge me to GOD'S WORD. My favorite is Dr. Evans recently said "praising GOD when we don't like how things are going in our lives" is the absolute hardest. Staying the course to see it through for our blessings is the hardest thing to do as Christians. Looking for GOD to fix it in an instant. But Won't He Do It! Glory Glory🙏🏽.

And we had a good time saying, "My boi, Kirk Franklin!" even picturing God giving him love with dap or hugging him into the kingdom for what he has done with his gift. Just for "Hoseanna" alone I can picture a great reception. Listening only a couple minutes in, I can understand my son's call to music ministry and pray for him.

I remember when I was like may 11 or 12 and my mom took me and my brothers to sing with Kirk Franklin and the family. It was in a huge stadium. While singing I bounced my shoulders dancing to the song and some old a*** hag told me that my dancing was not of the lord and I needed to stop. Hurt my little heart. After that I didn't wanna sing I didn't wanna be there. I don't fault Kirk for that, because the video that came out with stomp, they were doing the same dance with their shoulders that I was doing. It made me feel even more distant from the church that I already felt.

Look, let me tell you, ya'll better get that FIRST DFW Mass Choir because that goes in! It is def one of my epic albums here in DT! I love listening to Kirk, because since day one, he just says what he feels and it is real.

Wooooow! Just in the room.... live in the tension... feel a way about competing ministries.... Kirk is up here dropping all the gems and I'm 100% here to receive it. Two men of God literally living in their God ordained purpose right before our eyes. Go ahead and be great and let Christ use you. For real!

I did not expect to laugh this hard! Never follow Kirk's story closely, so loved hearing this and learning more. However, Stomp was what made me want to join a choir. And I can't sing a lick!! 😆😆😆 Buy the dance steps I made for us were LIT.

Kirk has been such an influence in my life. In my darkest times and wanted take my life, Kirk came along with the Hero album. I was fan but that album solidified my connection. Every album he has created, has had at least 2 songs, if not more, that spoke to me. I love the fact he admits to his flaws but he still gets up every day to try again. Thank you for the jewels.

So true about the age thing. In the 90s gospel artists way looked older than they really were. From Kenya and I attest to the fact that Kirk in that first four album run was our cool Christian card check that stayed respected.
