Agree 100%. Dorians success as a bloated, unattractive mass monster set bodybuilding back atleast a decade. Flex, Levrone, Ray, should have each had atleast one or two Sandows. Its just not attractive for an athlete to look like a pregnant woman in their 3rd trimester.

his '95 version was even better than '93 and '96 was really competitive as well. Maybe Levrone and others should've been more consistent, instead of yo-yoing through the placings every event and every year

Eye opener for me.too Mark. Kevin looked incredible here and I agree with you on how you judged this. Very fair but the MMM could not be taken down here! Yates was off and Shawn is not large enough to beat Kevin in this condition and size.

The man was robbed 92-95-97-98..2000 on he was declining I admit..

I liked 92 Kevin even though it was his smallest I believe it was his most conditioned and I think he would have made weight for classic physique

I was a big fan of bodybuilding as a sport, until i realized that kevin levrone won't be able to take the title even once.he was the pinnacle of aesthetics,and that was the reason why this sport turned in the wrong direction at first place!!!

thats why you aint a judge here what the judges had to say in the aftermath Jim Manion : My score sheet was identical to the final results. Dorian (Yates' ) size and rear blew everyone else away. Shawn ( Ray ) was in great shape but couldn't top Dorian this time. The same is true with Kevin , Paul Dillett seemed to be holding water. If Kevin and Paul came in top shape , they would have been right up there. Jim Rockell Dorian had a SLIGHT injury but as far as I'm concerned , it had NO bearing whatsoever. He was just so dense it made no overall difference. Paul's major deficiencies were in his back : not enough muscularity for his large frame. also basic stamina throughout was in question ; during call-outs , he was breathing heavy and bending over. Kevin has it all but was a little soft in prejudging , which hurt him. He wasn't quite as sharp as Shawn , but it was very close between second and third. It came down to the posedown ( Which Shawn won by a single point ). quote Flex Jan 1995 " Let it be recorded that in the immediate aftermath of the contest , none of his closest rivals even hinted that Yates did not deserve to win . Yates had a great lobby in the names of Peter Mac Gough, Wayne de Millia, Steve Weinberger and his wife Bev Francis. The judges never judged Dorian. They were giving him straight firsts at every contest no matter how he looked and were judging the rest of the competitors.

No, he should have been last. If you have an obvious torn biceps, then you are last. Nobody else had half a biceps missing. Same with Ronnie in 06, Any other bodybuilder with half a lat missing would have been last. Olympias are won from the back? Then they should be lost from the back. When you have a glaring weakness that nobody else has, then you are last. Dorian always said he would not compete if he couldn't be at his best. Year, whatever.

Shawn Ray is the rightful winner of the 1994 Mr Olympia. You picked some very favorable photos for Kevin, particularly the black and white shots made his conditioning look way better. Sean was far better conditioned in reality. Which is why Kevin wasn’t top 2. Although I’ll grant that there is an argument for him to beat Dorian this year

I always thought Kevin was the real King. Levrone and Ray were always my 2 favourite body builders. Each on their day could beat anyone. I never ever saw what IFBB saw in Yates. His arms were always to small for the rest of him, esp after the injuries. Great days though

Shawn Rays conditioning is insane that rear double bicep wow just crazy separation and the Ab and Thigh pose the aesthetics is pretty much perfect symmetry.

I cannot find a single reason why they gave 6 Olympias to Dorian. He only had mass thats all. Mass without balance, no good proportions , no symmetry, big belly , big waist like what the hell were they thinking?

He was a bit off at the pre- judging in 97 but was by far the best the next day at the evening show. Nasser, Ray and Levrone were all better than Dorian in 97 though.

No the bigger, better man won. I would argue Yates takes the front double with his legs and lats. Yates from 92-96 was the pinnacle

Without having watched this video yet - 1994 to me is still the clearest case of “size over everything” in Olympia history. Shawn was so complete 1994 just perfect. If he wasn’t winning 1994 then it wouldn’t matter what he did. Even in the back poses Shawn was holding his own against Dorian and didn’t seem to be getting dwarfed (in my opinion) Shawn Ray 100% robbed 1994 (in my humble)

Yeah that one is so close. Dorian besides the bicep and a couple poses is pretty damn impressive. I could see Levrone winning though I love Dorian, tough to decide. Shawn of course is amazing and has some of the best flow and balance, yeah this is a tough one to decide!! Awesome comparison. Dorian really flew with those Lats! Carried him through all his setbacks. Imagine Dorian and Levrone if they hadnt sustained serious injuries? Their injuries really limited their developement

Damn, I think Shawn Ray was the one robbed. If he were just a few inches taller and a few lbs heavier I think history would be much much different. Personally I'm a much bigger fan of Dorian as a bodybuilder and a person but you can't just deny Shawn, especially in 1994!

I love Dorian but he looked like hammered shit in 1994. Looked terrible & shouldn't have placed top 3. With that said Dorian is underrated by many like when people say he'd get smoked by Ronnie yet he beat everyone including Ronnie.

Shawn Ray was better conditioned his legs so detailed you would think you where under the effects of LSD looking at them. Levrone's issue is his somewhat blocky midsection. I think Levrone only has an edge over Shawn in the back poses. More separation. I just think Ray is the more aesthetic one of the three.

If kevin took bodybuilding seriously as Dorian did then he wud have been mr o several times.

Shawn has the best conditioning there but his thigh aesthetics are lacking. Kevin has sub Q water in this show and is not as dry. If Kevin were as dry he would be the winner. You are never going to beat that Dorian back though.

How can you say he was robbed and judge a most muscular (which basically won Kevin the comparison in this video) when most muscular wasn't even a mandatory pose back in 1994? It literally wasn't so you having Levrone winning because of it makes no sense. Yates wasn't robbed. If most muscular had been a mandatory pose then yes, but it wasn't.

Kevin beats Dorian on the abs and thighs pose as well. His quads were bigger, more cut and with better sweep. On the comparison picture you posted he already was done with the front version of the pose and switched to the side to show off his obliques and serratus muscles.
