Kevin Durant Achilles Tear UPDATE! Does Tear Location Matter??
Спорт
It was reported by NetsDaily that Kevin Durant's Achilles tear was higher up in the tendon, in an area with better blood flow and better healing. Is this actually good news for the Brooklyn Nets NBA superstar? Why are certain areas of the Achilles more at risk for rupture? In this video we'll answer all these questions and try to give more insight on the Kevin Durant Achilles tear injury!

Hey I know you’re probably not going to see this but it’s worth trying. About 6 months ago I hyper extended my knee playing football before the season had started (sophomore yr.) Two months later and I finally get my MRI. They had diagnosed me with A grade l sprain of the MCL and Mild tendinosis in my patellar and quadricep tendon. Till this day I’m having a lot of pain still. All I need to know is how to treat it but I still can’t seem to grasp how to, even after searching on KZread and google. You’re literally the only person I can think of who would most likely know how to treat this. I’m going insane not being able to squat, deadlift, power clean, etc.. because of this pain. It would be a pleasure if you could make a video about it and how to treat it 🙏

Progressive knee rehabilitation is key(isometric, concentric, eccentric, proprioception and finally sport mimic-ing), also seek some manual therapy to start, soft tissue therapy to affected muscles such as the quadriceps, popliteus, gastrocnemius and soleus may help with pain to encourage safe and effective exercise rehab. Knee joint mobilization and acupuncture helped me personally as well. Stay strong my guy, I was in a similar situation, with the help of a team of therapists including sports chiropractors, physios and massage therapists, I was able to come back better than ever and compete at a high lever again in my sport. 🙏

German Sgt Major Riflemen yeah but it was only for a split second. If anything though I think it was more of the way I landed from my jump that affected it so much. I was sort of having my momentum go backwards while in the air trying to grab the ball. Also I didn’t mention but when I went to go see my results with a different radiologist he said that there could have been some meniscus tear but he wasn’t sure because I got the MRI two months after the injury.

@BrianSuttererMD

Typically no. It's too much additional info and my page (and my social media) isn't for giving people individual medical advice. So im not doing these so that people with specific injuries can get treatment tips. Too much variation that goes into what you need for treatment and should be guided by actually seeing a doc in person

The rupture was high on the Achilles, hmmmmm
Boom
Can he comback as the original kd doc?thanks ..
The anecdotal outcomes for Achilles ruptures for NBA players are not good omens for Durant. The only player to come back without any obvious effect was Dominique Wilkins. Age is also a factor and Durant will be 31. As was noted in the video, the springiness of the leg depends on the coiling of the tissue. The ruptures usually results in a shortening and stiffness of the tissue. The kinematic chain between the foot, knee, hip, etc is affected, which is why Kobe had to retire due to knee issues which was actually a result of the previous Achilles tendon tear. In other words, Durant will now be vulnerable to a host of injuries on that leg. One solution is that he changes his style of play and becomes more of a 3 point shooter and doesn't slash to the basket. Rudy Gay had the same injury and is a good example of that adjustment. I am not a doctor though I do work with bodies. I think an essential problem with this injury is rushing back the player too early as the Lakers are trying to do with Cousins.
Kd gon comeback strong can’t wait

is there a precedent of a NBA player with this injury that came back and played well?
So, I know you said you weren't a surgeon. But, would a surgeon need to twist the achilles back into alignment before re-attaching it? I can't imagine how difficult a procedure like that would be. Geez.
