Kevin DeYoung | On John Calvin

The Gospel Coalition 2017 National Conference celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, unleashed by God in 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the Wittenberg door. This was the second of three keynote addresses on the Reformers and the Reformation.

I have watched this several times over these past years, thank you so much Kevin DeYoung, may our Lord bless you. This particular speech is justly ineffable.

John Calvin made it easier for us to understand the biblical revelation about God and the writings and teachings of the biblical authors, the prophets and the apostles. Kevin DeYoung, still young, is going to be a first rate teacher and theologian and speaker and servant of God in the footsteps of great theologians ahead of him..

John Calvin made it easy to believe a doctrine of devils. Study the Pharisees. Calvinism is a modern day demonic pharisaical teaching. I am absolutely convinced of that.

Love your content, but Kevin, have your 'sound team' tweek (turn down) the 'reverb'. IMHO there is simply too much 'Echo'. Listen to one of MacArthur's sermons. Yes, he too has some echo, but it's at a comfortable level.

My thing with Calvin is is that he came up with a ll this theology at 26 years old. I myself am 51. I have had many passages of scripture come to life in me that I was misinterpreting in the time I was 26 to 51. So while I agree with some of what Calvin say I strongly disagree with other things he say. Did you know that Calvin and Josef Smith have the same quote. That is " if you don't believe me you don't believe God because I was inspired by the spirit" I personally haven't seen either of their names in the bible. I don't think we can say anyone is inspired who's name we don't see in bible. That being said I would definitely agree with more of what Calvin say than Joe Smith after testing there words with the bible. Bottom line is I think my pastors are try to make the bible fit with the theology they were taught at seminary instead of trying to see if what they were taught fits with the bible

Timeline 3:30. Did you catch that "I subscribe to the Roman Catholc Journal which I subscribe to for many years" another notch in his belt for advertising a cult, not to mention the doctrine of Calvin.

John Calvin had someone burnt to death for heresy. But it was their destiny, so he's not responsible.

@@TeachingChurch well I'm certainly not a follower of John Calvin... However I do agree with certain things he said (just like is the case with any human I run into...) What exact parts of his theology would you say are heretical? And is this your opinion or is this a consensus throughout the body?
