Kevin Callan - Wilderness Canoe Trip Enthusiast and Happy Camper

Ойын-сауық

Kevin Callan is a Canadian Wilderness Canoe Trip Enthusiast and Happy Camper
Kevin Callan is one of the most well known names in Canadian Canoe Culture. He is the author of thirteen books, including the best selling “The Happy Camper”, the incredibly popular series of paddling guides, and most reviewed “Wilderness Pleasures: A Practical Guide to Camping Bliss”.
He is also a winner of four National Magazine Awards and three film awards and was also made Patron Paddler for Paddle Canada.
While filming Canoe: Icon of the North we interviewed Kevin Callan. Unfortunately, due to the number of interviews and restraints from the length of the film, only a small part of the interview could be used in Canoe: Icon of the North.
Years later, the voice of Kevin Callan still pops into my head while out on my own canoe trips. His advice and point of view still rings true and I still believe that Kevin has an enormous wealth of knowledge and experience.
For fans of both the film and Kevin, Trailguide Pictures is happy to release the full Kevin Callan interview, recorded in 2015 while filming Canoe: Icon of the North.
Canoe: Icon of the North (first released in 2015) is a short film that will inspire viewers through the stories told by the legends of Canada's paddling community and explores the idea of the canoe as part of Canadian culture. You can watch the full film here: • Canoe: Icon of the Nor...
Starring: Kevin Callan, Becky Mason, Ted Moores, Hugh Stewart, Adam VanKoeverden, Mark Oldershaw, John Jennings and Jeremy Ward.
We hope you enjoy this short film interview with one of Canada’s foremost authorities on wilderness canoe tripping. If you’d like to find out more about Kevin Callan, visit: www.kevincallan.com/

When I was filming Canoe: Icon of the North I wanted to sit and speak with the legends of Canadian canoeing. I still value the experience of sitting and talking with these experts of the canoe. I hope you'll also enjoy this interview. Please, leave a comment and subscribe.

Great interview! I personally LOVE tripping! It does have a way of grabbing you and not letting go. Oh and by the way, I am a fan of portaging! LOL! It’s true! I love to hike, so why not love to portage! Nothing says a good time like a 40lb canoe of your head and a 30lb pack on your back walking through the bush on a trail called devil staircase!!! It’s true when he said my best trip is my next trip!!!

Magic, that's the truth. I learned by mistakes & shear stick-to-it-ness Now, it is a big part of my very existence. Hoe lucky can an 81 year old that has a 22 year old grandson that wants to go with me. Thanks Jason & stay safe Brian 81

Kevin gets into the Kingston area every once in a while: I saw him and Andy at book signing one February and then a couple years later, I was in Frontenac PP picking up my park pass for a 3 day trip and there he was. He'd just finished being the guide for a school trip and was probably more than ready to get in his truck and head home, but he stopped and chatted with me for several minutes because he LOVEs spreading the gospel of family camping and was interested in my trip details since I was taking my then 8 and 12 year olds down Big Salmon Lake. The guy walks the talk....And he's funny as anything.
