    Beautiful footage! I can shoot Kestrels and Bluebirds 7 days a week but all that there is for them to land on out in the fields is power lines so it makes for lackluster pictures. They’re amazing and cute though 😻

    Hi Dan, I stumbled upon one of your videos a month or two ago and have subscribed as your enthusiasm and presentation is infectious, I am so jealous of some of the images that I have seen truly tremendous. It's also great to see the time you spend with Pop's great memories for both of you to share. After seeing your Red Fox video myself and two other friends from the same camera club have booked to go next summer so really looking forward to that. I am also going to check out the Yorkshire hides that you have been going to that looks really good. One of the things that myself and the other guys really appreciate is that you don't hide the fact where you are getting your images lots of KZread Photography channels don't divulge where they are so Kudos to you mate. I just have a question about your editing whenever I edit a noisy image I get rid of the noise before doing the rest of the editing as I think why edit the noise, so just wondering why you do it that way. Anyway looking forward to your next video Dan they have all been top quality viewing keep up the great work really appreciated.

I can thoroughly recommend Yorkshire Photography Hides, Mick really puts a lot of time and effort into the hide and it really pays off for the clients. In response to your question about editing, I always de-noise last because when it comes to editing in Lightroom, especially bring details out of shadows, you do this and introduce noise back into the image. Topaz will only analyse the noise present in the image and won’t recognise this noise as you haven’t introduced it yet. I must say though that’s only my thoughts mate, I am certainly not an expert and it maybe more effective to de-noise at the start. I will look into that over the coming weeks. Thanks again for your comment and support it’s really appreciated. All the very best 👍🏻

    Hi Dan Hope you can help , I've been fascinated with your channel especially the goshawks kestrels red kites perragrine falcons etc, I've just got my panasonic lumix g2 back out of the cupboard , not the same standard or quality as yours , I don't understand when and how to work the aperature out f2 f5 f7 etc , watching you I've learnt a good place to start is between f4 to f6.5 I've now set mine at f5 , I've also got a 45mm to 200mm lens , do I get a x2 converter or do I buy a new 500mm or 1000mm lens if available for mine Hope you can help Thanks

  • @danwillis_photography

    @danwillis_photography

    2 ай бұрын

    Hi Colin, thanks for your comment and support. I will do my best to answer your questions. First off f-stop! I tend to shoot wide open, so that means that I use the smallest f stop which in turn means that the aperture blades are open wide letting in as much of the available light as possible. The payoff (and there is always a payoff) is depth of field, the wider the aperture the shallower the depth of field. This then tells you what I do next. For subjects that require a greater depth of field I increase the aperture which in turn increases the depth of field but allows less light in. The sacrifice here is either shutter speed or ISO. As for purchasing new kit, I would always consider new glass (longer length) over teleconverters if you can afford it. Teleconverters always degrade the sharpness of your images. Hope this helps and all the best 👍🏻
